THE REASON FOR THE RACIAL TENSION IN AMERICA IS FEAR OF BLACK MEN

Yesterday, We, Ourselves, of The Collective and The Meditators, had the pleasure of listening to “Another View” broadcast on public radio station WHRV in Norfolk, Virginia. The program hosted by Barbara Hamm Lee feature a panel composed of noted political science scholar and Norfolk State University Professor Carol Pretlow, community activist Bill Thomas, Virginian-Pilot newspaper columnist Roger Chesley and talk show host Wil LaVeist. The ropics of discussion ranged from the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and Tamir Rice to the allegations of rape and assault against Bill Cosby to the accreditation crisis facing Norfolk State University.

We, Ourselves were especially impressed with the discussions surrounding the three tragic deaths at the hands of law enforcement by males of color in recent months. During that discussion a point was made about what the actual cause of the incidents that led to the death of Michael Brown. Officer Darren Wilson a large man armed with weaponry stated that he was afraid of Michael Brown also a large man but an unarmed one. The point was made that what has happened in America since the election of President barack Obama is a magnification of what has been true since the mid 18th century in America–a pathological fear of black men by white men.

Even when these people were in chains and deprived of their most basic Human Rights of Freedom, white men feared the power of black men to do violence against them. All who study the metaphysical know that eventually a debt deferred comes due. This is now deepened in the collective consciousness of white men and women in America who have conservative political ideologies. We even see this fear born out in the writing yesterday by Jim Hoft at the GatewayPundit who posted a tweet stating that whites are 25 times more likely to be victims of assault at the hands of blacks than whites, anywhere, in America. While The Meditators have not confirmed these extrapolated numbers are accurate, We, Ourselves do know that across the spectrum of crime in the United States whites are far more likely to be victimized by their own people than by a person of color. Equally, whites are far more likely to die by suicide than by violence from a person of color. By Our own methods We can confortably state that any white woman would be more likely to be raped by a white man in Juneau, Alaska than murdered by a black man in Chicago.

If by listening to the radio broadcast We can come to understand that fear is the driving factor any Human Being would need to answer the question being begged–who profits from the fear? leaving the question alone in the room with no answer would be a Sin Against Humanity. The answer to that fear is an understanding, at an individual level, of who you are. We, Ourselves have found inspiration in this video by Michaela Angela Davis who expresses clearly the fundamental importance of knowing who you are and projecting that knowledge of self in all that you do. In her words are Wisdom!
