THE CONSERVATIVE NEWS: HUSSEIN AL KWAWHIR ARRESTED AT DETROIT METRO AIRPORT WITH PRESSURE COOKER

Yeah I know. This might push Benghazi off the front burner and put the threat of a stream of pressure cooker bombers from Saudi Arabia on. I’m sure Glenn Beck is laughing hysterically and rubbing his hands right now. From ClickOnDetroit.com:

“A man travelling from Saudi Arabia was arrested after a pressure cooker was found in his luggage at Detroit Metro Airport.

The man, Hussain Al Kwawhir, is also accused of using an altered passport and lying to Customs and Border Protection Agents.

The alleged incident happened Saturday when Al Kwawhir arrived in Detroit from Saudi Arabia by way of Amsterdam. He told agents he was coming to the area to visit his nephew at the University of Toledo. Upon inspection, agents found a page missing from Al Kwawhir’s passport. They also found a pressure cooker in his luggage.

Al Kwawhir said the pressure cooker was a gift for his nephew because they aren’t sold in the United States. Al Kwawhir later changed his story and said his nephew purchased the pressure cooker.

He faces federal charges of lying to customs agents about the pressure cooker and having an altered passport.”

The good news here is the guy is in custody. I expect to see something from Geller about “islamofascism” any moment now. That’s all conservatives you can go back to praying with your assault rifles that Obama will be impeached.

BUFORD ROGERS IS NOT A TERRORIST BUT HE WOULD HAVE BEEN TO CONSERVATIVES HAD HE NOT BEEN WHITE

This is because Buford Rogers was caught before he could commit acts that would have certainly been deemed terroristic. Had they been committed by anyone with connections to a foreign group, a religion other than Christianity and been non white. From the interview done with Buford Rogers’ parents, We, Ourselves of the Collective clearly have the Federal Bureau of Investigation to thank for keeping this domestic and local grudge from becoming something much more serious and deadly. Many conservative forums and blogs are making light of this arrest. The Meditators find this both amusing and shocking.

Consider this scenario; a man is caught in a home with pressure cookers and black powder and nails and ball bearings and a tip leads to the FBI arresting him and his brother days before the Boston Marathon. After the holiday the media report the findings of local, state and Federal law enforcement. The plot to bomb the race and to carry out further attacks in New York City has been thwarted. Now is this person a potential terrorist based on what the police and the FBI suspect he could have done had he completed his bombs? Does it really matter if the person is an adherent to Islam from Dagestan or the product of poor white trash in western Minnesota?

The crime that will likely not stick against Buford Rogers is the possession of a firearm by a felon charge. It is alleged that Rogers had a Romanian AKM rifle and other firearms based upon his fingerprints being on them. Jeff Rogers, the father of Buford, says that his son only cleaned the weapons. What would the NRA say about a legal gun owner allowing a relative who is known felon who legally is barred from possessing a firearm easy access to them? Is this not one of the gaping loopholes in gun ownership regulation in America; the sales between relatives many times done after straw purchases?

Margaret Rogers a woman identified only as being married to Jeff Rogers said there were no pipe bombs in the home but the FBI stated the pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails were found in the shed with other potential weapons. Conservative blogs have already picked up on the words of this woman which echo terribly similarly to those by Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s mother which claim Buford is not a terrorist and that there was nothing found in the home. The reaction of the Rogers family and those that knew Buford Rogers run parallel to the sort of things that were said about the Boston Marathon bombers. Rogers even has a younger brother who can be seen in the picture above wearing camouflage and standing next to a poster which could be used for an anti-illiteracy campaign.

The words of Jeff Rogers are clear and to the point for all to see, “Bucky is not a terrorist. He is not out to bomb anyone. He’s a patriot like we all should be.” The Collective knows and understands exactly who the “we’ Jeff Rogers refers to in this quote. Rogers and his sons were members of a minor group of patriots in Minnesota known as the Black Snake Militia. The BSM has ties to the Southern Brotherhood Milita whose stated goals are [Emphasis Ours}:

"We oppose the United Nations , NATO and the Powers-That-Be, we are against the Federal Secular Humanists that run our Anti-Christian / Anti-God Government. We oppose Abortionists, CFR, the International Bankers ( Banks ) and Corporations. We oppose all meddling beauracratic [sic] entities.

And now this becomes, yet again, a matter for the Laal Hethri. The beliefs of many groups like the BSM and the SBM are the beliefs of the rank and file of the TEA Party. When an adherent to Islam commits such acts it is always terrorist when poor white theocrats plot to do similar things it is to conservatives simply a “local dispute” that got out of hand and the FBI has “overreacted.”

VOX POPULI: THE REAL FEELINGS OF CONSERVATIVES IN AMERICA

This will be brief this morning as we have more important news to report today. There is a growing resentment among white supremacists and their common conservative allies recently for both the federal authority which many of them see as illegitimate because of the leadership of the Executive Branch being in the hands of President Barack H Obama as well as for a group of citizens that these people feel have done ill to the United States over many decades. That group to these bigots would include the entire LGBT community, blacks, Latinos and anyone who sides with their ongoing struggles for rights and equality. Here are three comments from IOwnTheWorld.com that bear this out and point to connections to why so many in law enforcement have been slaughtered in the past few months:

Dumbass! Morals are inherent within the psyche of all humans. They just have to be exposed to rational minded children as “the right thing to do” otherwise, there will be ramifications. Those who are irrational (like Lanza) will never get it. That’s why we have institutions.
Dear Freddie – you need to thank God conservatives (the majority of the people on earth) have morals. If some day they chose to give them up people like you will be the first dangling from the lamp posts. It appears that these comments have been allowed to stay up at their site and this is perfectly fine because Progressive want the other side to speak their hearts. If they do this more often their demise, politically, will come sooner rather than later. FAR RIGHT BIGOTS VENT THEIR SPLEENS ON A NEW TARGET THE PARENTS OF SANDY HOOK VICTIMS WHO DARE TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE

You knew it would only be a matter of time before the real cowards in the debate about guns in America showed their true colors. The bigots over at IOwnTheWorld.com led by the Grand Imperial Cyclops of Stupidity aka BigFurHat is angry that Mark Mattioli, a father of a victim in the Sandy Hook School massacre who supports the National Rifle Association, isn’t getting the same amount of press or love from Google, as those who are advocating stricter controls on large capacity magazine, ammunition and assault weapons. This was the conversation BigFurHat had with a commenter, Liberal Larry who reacted to the first comment after the post:

Whom: “It is amazing. The actors and fakes of the shooting. Even the pic above looks fake (bad acting).”

Liberal Larry: “His son was murdered, you monster.”

BigFurHat: “His son’s death has caused a bunch of friggin opportunistic morons to go after “assault rifles.”

That is like cracking down on steroid abuse in baseball by banning weight-lifting.

I realize you’re a parody commenter, but, liberals must be eradicated.”

I realize that these gun nuts and bigots have a heavy burden on their shoulders. Having to drag all that hate and animosity around all day while, at the same time, keeping a sharp eye out for the black guy that’s going to carjack them and force them to watch as they rape their whole family including the dog in the comfort of their conservative and safe suburban homes, must be exhausting. But this is even too far overboard for your friendly neighborhood Gonzo™ journalist having his second bourbon and branch water this fine warm morning. To mock people in their grief is a time honored tradition if they were responsible for the situation they are in currently. This is quite aptly known as schadenfreude and it is virtually a currency here in Hell. But BigFurHat and the other haters at IOwnTheWorld.com aren’t in the business of schadenfreude harvesting; they are in the business of filling the minds of fearful angry people with the poison that will ultimately lead to widespread violence among conservatives against whatever the target of convenience is.

It won’t matter to them when a white supremacist kills a state director of prisons as BigFurHat dare not write about such matters because they don’t fit into the fearspeak paradigm that demand that there is no black middle class, that their is a gay agenda that wants to destroy Christianity and that the current president is a Marxist Muslim from Kenya. I was of a mind that the whole matter was settled after the last election cycle and that the writing was on the wall that conservatives especially ones living in the suburbs of New York City needed to reevaluate their positions on a number of matters politically or meet their historical end as a national movement. Instead the right had tripled down on guns and new tactics that will turn them into the caricatures of the violent Left they blabber on so much about.

Neil Heslin did nothing more than send his son to school where, like many Americans have come to understand horribly in this modern time, he felt his child was safe. Neil Heslin’s tragedy didn’t come at the hands of some inner city thug with a cheap revolver who killed a child to take his lunch money to buy crack. This man, who BigFurHat calls, “mumbles,” is mired in grief because his child was taken from him by the very same fire of anger and fear that burns in the hearts of every bigoted right wing jackass who is willing to vomit their bile all over the many digital pages that will allow them. Those children aren’t dead simply because Nancy Lanza was a flighty bitch who loved guns more than she loved common sense. Those 20 children and the six school teachers and officials at Sandy Hook Elementary are dead because of Conservatism and it never ending addiction to guns and gun culture as the only means by which to keep the brown and black wolf and their allies from their doors.

I have a tip for all you doomsday preppers, birthers, family values snake oil sellers, homophobic right wing pundits, minority conservatives that jump on the train to make a quick buck, Breitbart corpse eaters, Reagan idolizers, La Pierre lovers, Republican chicks who use gun barrels as dildos, Mama grizzlies, right wing hockey moms and TEA Party patriots, out there in the good old US of A. Fucking get a life people. Really. There was once a time that a simply word could keep a man from doing what his heart and mind told him was the correct thing to do. A solitary word could make it justifiable to beat a man to death because he loved another man and that same word could be used to hang a millstone around a brutalized young boy’s neck and cast him into a river to die. That word is SHAME. What comes along with that word like a loyal hound following closely is fear. Back in the day the fear of being call a faggot or a nigger lover or a commie was so powerful because it meant you would be ostracized from the tribe of white men who could be trusted, who were honorable, who knew their way was the right way the only way, the American way. Now, my friends we all know better. What those bigots and haters did for centuries wasn’t to keep their women safe, it was to keep them quiet. It wasn’t to preserve anything but their own power, nothing more. So the next time you hear someone spouting the BigFurHat’s racist bullshit on any topic smile politely and say, “You’ve already lost, shut the fuck up.”

NORTH CAROLINA GOP SECEDES FROM THE UNION

This could possibly be the best delayed April Fool’s joke of all time.

Well, almost. Two North Carolina legislators are fed up with all the secularism in their state and have decided to introduce a bill that would allow North Carolina to declare an official state religion, by way of the Rowan County Defense of Religion Act of 2013. Now if they picked Judaism I would be shocked. The Atlantic Wire and Forbes both point out, as The Boss did this morning that Lemon v Kurtzman [403 US 602] (1971) quashed the constitutionality of any such action by any of the several states.

I know it’s unconstitutional and so do they but in these dark times for conservative thinking any half baked idea to rally the base is better than no idea at all for those on the Right. Here’s my problem with this that goes far beyond the simply nature of how it kicks in the teeth of civil liberties; which religion gets chosen and by whom? Now Carl Ford a Republican from the bustling diverse metropolis of China Grove, North Carolina and Harry Warren a Republican from Salisbury, North Carolina may not have thought this through. I would imagine that both of these men and the other 11 GOP representatives that support it would all stand up and shout “Christianity!” That’s fine since 79% [as of 2001] of the population of the state professes Christianity as their faith of choice. Okay, but which sect?

Let’s say they decide in the North Carolina legislature that their official religion is the Southern Baptist Convention. That may ruffle the feathers of the Methodists, the Mormons, the Episcopalians, the Lutherans, the Presbyterians, the Jews and the Catholics who taken together make up 41% to the Baptists 38%. A religious war could erupt along the lines of the English Civil War from Elizabeth City to Black Mountain over a perceived right that a conservative group of legislators wish they possessed.

If they dodge that time honored western European tradition of murdering each other over how you worship their still would be many hurdles that would have to be jumped in the name of not violating the new law. Public officials would now all have to come from that minority of Baptists. Every judge, every mayor, every sheriff that ran for office would have to come from this pool of citizens and no one else. To hold a public office one would have to swear faith in the state religion. Moreover, the people who sit behind those windows where you get a business license would also have to swear an oath or kiss the hem of a flag or something to keep their positions. So imagine me, a New York Jew living in retirement in North Carolina and I want to start a business. Would I be allowed to get a loan from a Baptist bank? Would I be able to get a driver’s license at the DMV? Maybe I would be easier identified if I wore a pretty yellow Magen David on my coat?

In Hindsight

This is the entire point. Angry old white dudes again slinging feces at the GOP brand. But of course this has nothing to do with the Republican party that Lincoln was the foundation of as a President. This has to do with the Dixiecrat wing of the Democratic Party that became Republican after Nixon’s Southern Strategy success in 1968. This is still really funny when you think about it. Conservatives lose their minds as if the Marines are on their way to take their guns at any mention of gun control because that’s a violation of the 2nd amendment while these hayseeds in North Carolina clearly have no respect for the 1st amendment at all.

Thanks for mentioning our conversations Cluster. I appreciate it. I think that Amazona is correct in saying that social issues should not be the focus of any government, let alone one based upon conservative precepts. To take that statement to its logical conclusion, we all should be libertarian, as long as we do not devolve into anarchy. Unfortunately this is not the case. There are many, to many IMO, that are obsessed with social issues and use the government and it’s law making and law enforcing power to enact both restrictions and allowances. I am not a constitutional expert. I have a DAR manual that I look at from time to time but mostly for a point of clarification. I agree that it is a brilliantly written document and that the authors had enough forethought and enlightenment to be cognizant of the future. But it is also a product of it’s time, written by human beings who were every bit as complicated and flawed and brilliant and tragic as anyone living today. The essence of all words, as a conveyance of thinking, is metaphorical. (A word itself.) And as such, the words are subject to interpretation. An argument can be made that the “intent” that Amazona mentioned, is nothing more than learned guessing. (Emphasis on ned in learned.) One of the functions of the Supreme Court, is to interpret the meaning of the language that comprises the Constitution, by way of a shared consensus of opinion between a quorum of justices.
But in a representative government, if a social issue is a concern, then it does become subject to legislation. This has been a fact throughout human history. We do not live in a vacuum (no pun intended towards those who doubt my aviator skills) and in 2013 there are over 300 million people who live in the US. In 1776 there were ~ 2.5 and were primarily agrarian.
I think that conservative principals are the best choice where the issue(s) are economic in nature. But I do not disparage a degreed economist who happens to have a more fundamental understanding of the dynamics of a multi-trillion economy and how it interacts not only with those that have a dollar in their pocket, but now amongst the entire planet as well.
As I see it, it is not the educational system that is to blame, or the inherent bias that all people and businesses possess that is the root of the problems conservatism is experiencing, it is the behavior, the claims and the reporting of it. A few examples exist on this blog alone. Retired Spook going on about transformation. Society, culture and politics are fluid, not static.Please provide some specific examples Retired Spook, of how our country is suffering from the progressive nature of time and the changing attitudes of the population. There are very few examples that my feeble brain can come up with that verify your conviction that an uber left even exists, let alone paint with such broad strokes this “intense dislike of how America was founded.” Just how was it founded? Not why, but how. And why do you stereotype? Not all “liberals” are America hating. In fact, most people desire a better America, not a worse one.
Amazona’s use of inflammatory adjectives as a method of demeaning and undermining alternative points of view. And her obsession with spelling, grammar and punctuation. (I write the way I speak, commas substituting for pauses.)
I won’t even address Neo. There isn’t a better representative for the fanatical, fringe extreme that gives conservatives a bad reputation than he. Conservatism isn’t the problem. It’s conservatives.
I am a supporter of smaller government. I do not think excessive regulation(s) are a good thing. I think local control is superior to national but I also recognize the duplicity that currently exists on the right, how traditional conservatism has been eviscerated by a pandering to a certain type of uninformed and fearful individual and how tribalism has been exploited to further the monetary goals of others. This is the human condition. This is what Machiavelli often referred to and encouraged. I think that for conservatism to make a resurgence, it has to go through a metamorphosis. Unfortunately for those currently experiencing this change, it is a difficult process and it is perfectly understandable to want to blame those that don’t subscribe to the ideology, whom are not fixated with blaming the “media” or contemporary popular culture for their poor and declining image. There is a difference between cooperation and capitulation. This demarcation applies to all sides of the political grid. Self examination is a positive. A refusal to accept the need to change is not. And this applies to everyone on both a personal level and as a member of a group.
OK. I think I will slither back into my hole now.

BREAD & CIRCUSES: EXAMINING WHAT THE BIGOTS AT STUFF BLACK PEOPLE DON’T LIKE REFUSE TO SEE

A recent article written by Dan Keating in the Washington Post on how gun deaths affect the races has prompted the writers at “Stuff Black People Don’t Like” to come to the following conclusion:

[Colion] Noir asks:

“Let’s talk about the violence in the inner cities. Everyone wants to ask why. Why the killing, why the murders, why the deaths?”
Because the inner cities of America are full of black people. That’s why.

Which is of course why many white people living in urban America are so excited about introducing gun control in their city, for it’s merely an attempt at controlling black people from accessing guns (thus, an attempt to negate a tool blacks can use in crime).

And, of course, why many more white people are so excited about protecting their 2nd Amendment rights — to defend their life, liberty, and property from the people most likely to use guns in a malicious manner.

Black people.

As harsh a condemnation of an entire race of people as that is the statement requires a deeper examination. The stated goal of SBPDL is to arouse animus for the black community among the minority of powerless right wing bigots in the United States. The writer reinforces the idea that black people are the greatest danger to the health and well being, both physically and economically, in America. What Keating wrote and evidence from sources at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention paint a vastly different portrait about gun deaths in the United States.

The fact that the suicide rate by firearm in the United States was 6.3% per 100,000 came as no shock to me whatsoever. The homicide rate by firearm was 3.6% per 100,000 which would cause a rational non race thinking reader to ask, “Who are all these people who are committing the greatest crime against their Souls?” Well, according to both the CDC and the article written by Keating:

A white person is five times as likely to commit suicide with a gun as to be shot with a gun; for each African American who uses a gun to commit suicide, five are killed by other people with guns.

The number of firearm suicide deaths according to the CDC based on 2010 data was 19.232; the number of firearm homicide deaths was 11,078. These are numbers omitted in the SBPDL article and for good reason. What the bigots at SBPDL want their readers to focus on is the potential that blacks will harm them. In fact a white person is far more likely, living in a rural area where guns are prevalent, to know someone who has killed themselves with a firearm, or, be involved in a firearm murder suicide, than have any harm caused to them by a black person.

The folks at SBPDL wave this fact away with the following poorly reasoned phrase:

Black people brandishing a gun while living on/walking by/driving on a street named after Martin Luther King Jr. is a recipe for immediate disaster, with an act of Spontaneous Blackness only moments from happening.

Meanwhile, white people are busy engaging in a metaphysical battle with their own reality, an introspective journey into measuring their own self-worth. If found wanting, they use a gun to take only their own life.

There’s the truth about guns in America.

So if a mistaken identity drive by shooting is a moment of “spontaneous blackness” then what would the bigots at SBPDL call the murder suicide of Herbert Rishell in San Antonio, Texas? Could it be an act of spontaneous whiteness the murder suicide of Richard Hughes and his wife in Asbury, Missouri? Should the suicide of Christopher Gilchowski and attempted murder of Charlotte Jones in Transylvania County, North Carolina be consider only along racial lines as a means to inspire not only fear but hatred against whites? As a rational journalist I would say no, but of course, you dear American reader live in very interesting times.

We, Ourselves, of The Collective and The Meditators, disagree with your premise that Ms Bloch is projecting. To take this tack means you have no refutation for Ms Bloch’s opinion rendering your words meaningless. The entire reaction to the ACA and the creation of the TEA Party by well heeled conservatives, was propagated in the same manner that Nixon used the Southern Strategy to gain traction for a second term.

We, Ourselves, and Our colleagues neither condone nor participate in racism, Our mission is not anti-religious, it is anti-Theocracy and there is no fine difference between the two; religious practice is the Right of every Free Citizen while Theocracy is desired only by those who wish to see the march to an American Progressive Future bound in the shackles of clerical power to deny the rights of millions of that nation’s people. We, Ourselves, stand against those who have corrupted Islam just as We stand against those who have corrupted Christianity. In this effort Our actions speak volumes on their own.
