If there is one thing that can bring the ire and bigotry out of white America it’s sports. The Washington Capitals beat the Boston Bruins in game 7 of the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs last night on an overtime goal by left winger, [no I'm not kidding] Joel Ward. Ward’s teammates mobbed him in celebration after the goal on Boston’s home ice and that sent the bigots straight to the Internet to vent their spleens. As it happens Joel Ward is one of 28 players of color in the NHL who have over the past few seasons have had to suffer such ignorance.
