YOUR WEEKLY COCO AUSTIN: THIS WEEK’S TOPIC OVERREACH

fred_schwartz_4

There’s the IRS scandal, the AP phone records scandal and of course there’s still the Benghazi talking points scandal. That Bananarama song, “Cruel Summer” that I hated so much seems to be where the Obama Administration is at right now. Is this Watergate? I don’t think so. Will it be politically damaging to the Progressive movement and the Democratic Party in the 2014 elections? Yes. Now there’s no chance at all that the Democrats will take the House and they might just lose the Senate if this scandal remains red meat for both the MSM and the conservative blogosphere.

coco overreach

With that said let the lovely and talented Coco Austin remind you that in politics as in tennis, overreach is always a bad thing.

  1. its way too early to draw conclusions about the 2014 mid-terms esp since the know-nothing wingnut candidates have yet to start running their mouths.

I honestly don’t think there’ll be any change in Congress until after Obama leaves office in 2017. Whomever has the popular support by then from either party will likely have the support of two Houses of Congress. Even in the current hurricane of scandal in DC i still believe that Hillary Clinton will be president in 2017 and she’ll have the tailwind of a Democratic House and Senate behind her. The GOP House has not taken the advice of many conservative pundits to keep their powder dry with all of these scandals because as you’ve said it’s too early and much of this will be forgotten by 2014 election day. Had much of this come to light in the Spring of 2016 that may have made a bigger difference on the general election.
