This is a quote from Our Editor-in-Chief during a televised news program here in Hell from 23 August 2012. It explains what the modern conservative movement has become in the last 50 or so years:

“I want to be clear on where I see current American conservatism coming from. Stupidity is a bartender at a bar called the Echo Chamber. This bartender over serves his best customer, Bigotry, drinks of 100 proof hate. Bigotry sits at the bar lamenting to Stupidity that he has not had sex with his wife in years and in walks Ignorance and her twin sister Intolerance. By closing time these two unattractive but willing sisters appear to be goddesses to Bigotry but they aren’t willing to share their bodies for nothing and they need a place to make their trade. So Bigotry takes the twin sisters to a hotel called Religion and he sets their pay for services in Lies on the nightstand and they spend a night engaged in the best sex Bigotry has ever had. A year later the twins are both back in the Echo Chamber pushing strollers Intolerance has a child called Family Values and Ignorance has a child she calls Anti-Intellectualism. Since Bigotry is married to a woman called Nationalism he builds them a house away from his exurban life and he names that house Conservatism.”

  1. Fredrick Schwartz, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H. [Journ.] Says:

Political parties change Neocon1. The GOP is changing today; the Democratic Party changes when all the Dixiecrat bigots left. We’ve been over this a thousand times. The Democrats of the pre and post Civil War Era supported slavery in the South and did all they could to destroy Union victory in the North. That is known and clear history. Democrats in the South after Reconstruction unleash a war of terror on Free Blacks in the South and anyone who aided them. In the middle of the 20th Century, with Civil Rights becoming a looming possibility the Dixiecrat party came into being and actually won some elections. But all this changed in 1960 with the election of one man, John Fitzgerald Kennedy a Northern Democrat and a Catholic. While I can’t say what would have happened had he lived his successor, Lyndon Baines Johnson, however made it his presidential legacy to right the ills of the Democratic party of the past and he did so by literally dragging the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act through Congress to his desk where to the horror of Southern Conservatives he signed it into law.

As a response to this Southern Conservatives allied themselves with Nixon and his grand idea of a Southern strategy that would pit working class blacks and their newfound electoral power against working class whites. Take a look at the election results from 1968 and 1972 in the South if you want to watch the shift take place. The Dixiecrats, the Conservative wing of the Democratic Party in the South won Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia. This is curiously similar to the of the Tea Party movement today; a breakaway movement of Conservatives from a party it no longer feels is Conservative enough. In 1972 the strategy worked fully. There was no Dixiecrat movement it was long dead and Nixon swept back into power because he was a wartime president with a message that resonated with Conservatives of all stripes when compared to the ultraliberal George McGovern. And then that whole Watergate break in thing. Move forward to 1976 and the GOP missed a golden opportunity to beat virtual political novice Jimmy Carter by nominating Ronald Reagan. The wait of four years was one of the greatest political strokes of luck in American history. The economy slid into the greatest inflationary cycle in 25 years and in 1980 Carter was out. Reagan got the Conservative vote out with plenty of help from a place that it never got help from before Conservative Christians as an electoral operative force– The Moral Majority. Take a look at the results map for the 1980 election and look at the South. This is still the same place that it was in 1960. Ideologies hadn’t changed there was no New South. Conservatives had fully switched political parties. Those that benefited from Jim Crow in the early 20th Century now had sons in Congress and advisors in the White House. For the next 12 years in the second luckiest event in American political history, Democrats ran the worst trio of candidates they’d ever fielded. Then came a breath of fresh air from Arkansas a liberal governor and a master politician William Jefferson Clinton. Well, the rest is history except for one thing. The election of President Barack Obama rekindled the same emotions in millions of Americans that Johnson’s signing of the Civil and Voting Rights Acts did. While it is couched in a tax revolt anyone who really understand politics in America knows that the TEA Party is a reaction to a person of color for the first time being elected to the highest office in the land. If the GOP is lucky when Hillary Clinton is elected in 2016 the TEA Party will go the same way of the Wallace/LeMay Party of 1968 and that will bear out the bigotry that inspired the TEA Party. If the astroturf kings who took Rick Santelli’s words and ran with them to create this monster are smart they will go down in history as the bunch who cobbled together a party of their own likely with a Rand Paul or a Ted Cruz or a Sarah Palin at the top of their ticket and ruined the GOP as a national party.

    • Fredrick Schwartz, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H. [Journ.] Says:

Of course it is to you because it is irrefutable historical fact. Your beliefs and desires and wishes cannot cut the skin of those facts. I admit fully the racist violent past of the Democratic party from its formation until 1968 when the worst elements left the party. Now the Democrats have elected the first man of color as President and will elect the first woman in 2016 and there is nothing legal you or any other conservative can do about it. Women, persons of color, the LGBT community and young people, will sweep HRC into the White House. Have the Senate and the House for 2 years! Embarrass yourselves with threats of Impeachment! Rock on! It’ll all come crashing down on you when the GOP primaries show that the ultra conservative dickheads can’t win in the general. By 2018, there will be a flip of state houses so that when the districts get redrawn it won’t be possible for a Republican or a TEA Partier to get elected in 75% of congressional districts. You can take that one to the bank because that strategy is Carville/Axelrod 2.0.

  2. The important part first. Majordomo you honor me by reposting this comment from nearly eight Terran years ago.

  3. Neocon01:

You should know better than to insult a demon but considering your delusion condition, that of being a Conservative in defiance of all proof that does not suit your worldview, I will grant absolution for the insult. However, if you had a working brain cell in your head you would realize that at some point in your future your comfort may depend on someone who will not want to hear your demented rantings about how much you hated Obama. In twenty years your primary caregiver may just be a women who today is 14 years old and wants desperately to vote for Hillary Clinton. I’m sure in your declining and helpless years you might want to keep your political views to yourself, yes? Tick, tock.
