EMPRESS ANG’KI HOOR I: THE DAUNTING TASK OF BEING BLACK AND IN POWER IN 21ST CENTURY AMERICA
What is the value of Power? I often ask myself that question and ask it of others here in Dis. I am fortunate to have an inner circle that has no qualms about speaking Truth to Power. In America in the daily lives of the average citizen this is not the case. A vicious caste system that vibrates upon an unseen frequency creates an environment that creates a debased currency for some in power but not others. Since the birth of the United States as a nation, the power of those who looked a certain way was unquestioned for centuries. Now that power has been chipped away and the weak, soft mass at the center has been exposed.
There’s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that’s directed at me [and] directed at the president. You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There’s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some there’s a racial animus. — Eric Holder
Outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder has had a difficult job these last 6 years. Being the first black AG, in the administration of the first black President was sure to be a challenge in the most polarized political age in America since the Civil War. Every action he took as the leading law enforcement officer in the United States was scrutinized by white conservatives and their minority hangers on as no other AG had been in American history. So the quote above stands as a matter of fact as I see it; not as an opinion. Conservatives never have and never will respect his actions as being in the interest of America as a whole. Conservatives cannot allow themselves to see Holder’s tenure as promoting freedom or law and order because bigotry is at the root of their ideology.
