FROM THE DESK OF THE EDITOR IN CHIEF: FINDING RELAXATION DURING THE INTERREGNUM IN THE POLITICAL POLARIZATION WAR
This has been a long ten Terran standard years. In August of 2005 this digital version of Hell’s leading daily newspaper came to life with reports about the events in and around New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Since those days in late August, this newspaper has championed the Progressive cause at every turn but has often disagreed with some of the Human Beings on the American Progressive team. Such is the nature of politics when practiced by those who have Reason.
What I write about today has nothing to do with politics, social issues or how far you have come from the brink of an economic collapse. I am putting my hooves up on the desk and writing about something that demos find fascinating–television. We, of my species, especially find the television programming done by Humans to be wildly entertaining and superior among the five dozen or so sentient races that have the technology or something similar. This is quite an achievement considering for centuries before Humans had even harnessed the power of electricity the denizens of Sirius B 4 were running one program called “Impressions” which is still considered the greatest broadcast program in history.
Now things have changed. I spent my evening last night with my wife Carol watching comedian Tig Notaro’s special “Knock, Knock, it’s Tig Notaro!” on the Showtime Network. I had not laughed that hard in a century. She is truly a beautiful Human being that has found a mastery at her craft by simply finding the flower of comedy in the faeces of the drudgery of daily life. It’s is brilliant and I recommend watching this.
Also on Showtime is one of my truly guilty pleasures that hit close to home. “Penny Dreadful” is a beautiful horror period piece with a well assembled cast that features the talents of Eva Green acting in the role of an alluring prize in the between Shai’tan and the forces of Light. To watch Josh Hartnett as a runaway Army officer hiding a dark secret is worth the cost of your time and as always you are left wanting just a few more minutes of this wonderfully changing world prior to WWI.
And on a journalistic note I have read Fred Schwartz’s draft on “Cultural Marxism” and found it the best article I have read by anyone on my staff all year–so far. That’s a little incentive for the rest of you. To the Living, The City and The World I bid you good day!
