BREAKING NEWS: KILLER OF ALISON PARKER AND ADAM WARD BEING CHASED BY VIRGINIA STATE POLICE ON I-64 HEADING WESTBOUND
A terribly tragic morning for the journalism community as WDBJ, a CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia, reporter Alison Parker and her photographer Adam Ward were killed by a lone gunman while conducting and Vicki Gardner the head of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce at 0645 this morning. At least seven shots were fired at the interviewee, the reporter and the cameraman at a water park near Moneta, VA. The gunman’s image was captured by the camera which was still running after the violence had played out.
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe speaking on WTOP said that the suspect’s arrest is imminent and he is being pursued on I-64 heading west. Also during this morning’s interview the governor stated that the suspect may be a disgruntled former employee of the news station. No accidents are being reported currently on I-64 west but the Virginia State Police according to our sources have the suspect in sight on that highway. Several names and descriptions have circulated in social media. At this time The Dis Brimstone-Daily Pitchfork has been unable to confirm any of these individuals as the suspect.
As of nine minutes ago NBC 29 in Charlottesville got a response from the Virginia State police stating there is not a current chase ongoing.
More to follow.
