THE ONE THING THAT COULD MAKE THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS EVEN MORE AWESOME: ELENA DELLE DONNE
I played basketball in high school and college at Marquette and absolutely love the game. I was a point guard. Yes, I am a short white girl but so were most of the people in Iowa where I grew up. Well, white, but not short. Now watching the Golden State Warriors over nearly two seasons I find only a few chinks in their armour. One is turnovers and the other . . . Well I forget because I’m too busy being amazed that they are 55-5 through 60 games. The Warriors’ bench is deep and they pass the ball better than any other team in the NBA. There’s only one thing missing I think.
Yeah, I’m serious. Next draft the Golden State Warriors should make one more bit of history. They should draft Elena Delle Donne and give her a shot at making the team. At 6’5″ 187 she could come off the bench and do just what the rest of the Warriors do night out and night in; pass with efficiency and shoot the daylights out of the basketball. Delle Donne would enhance an already near perfect offense and they would not miss a beat. On a team that could play with four against five on most nights [Fred Schwartz joked last night that CNN’s Alisyn Camerota, 5’3″ 105 could play 12 minutes a night for Golden State and they’d still score 130 points and she’d score 5 points and have 5 assists.–D.V.] Delle Donne would be an asset. Let the girl play on the big stage.
