MAYA DILLARD SMITH EMBODIES THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION

Pain_element

” . . . to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and the laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country.”

Maya Dillard Smith was until recently the interim director of the Georgia chapter of the ACLU. Dillard has resigned because of her personal dissatisfaction with the ACLU’s support of the opposition to a bill that would allow transgender persons to use the restroom, locker rooms and other public spaces based on their gender identity. This became an issue directly to Ms. Smith because of the experience her young girls had in a restroom after encountering three transgender persons in a women’s room.

We, Ourselves, of The Collective and the Meditators, take note that Maya Dillard Smith has done excellent work in the past supporting the 1st amendment rights of groups whose actions she may have disagreed with but deserve the same access as anyone else. This ability is the essence of the mission statement of the ACLU. In 2015 Ms Smith was quoted in a case where the International Keystone Knights of the Ku Klux Klan wanted to adopt a highway in northeast Georgia, “This case is really important not necessarily because of the group represented, but because if denied access to court, it would in essence mean all other groups … could potentially be denied entry into the court system. Our case involves that very issue, since Georgia has claimed it’s immune from us or any other group suing them without their permission. We cannot let the state get away with that kind of unchecked power.” Once again this is the essence of the ACLU’s mission.

While We, Ourselves, support transgender civil rights, We, also support and respect the personal values of Ms. Dillard Smith and her decision to move on rather than work at the executive level on an issue she did not have a fire in heart for or a full-throated support of. It has been noted that a few transgender and LGBTQ activists have been unkind to Maya Dillard Smith. This action is not only self defeating it is the antithesis of the concept of democracy and the march for civil rights for all based on mutual respect.

Those on the Right of the political spectrum have often been at odds with the ACLU vilifying them for support what they perceived as a “liberal agenda.” This is hardly the truth at all. It is apparent to The Collective that when conservative establishmentarians are faced with a matter in civil rights that goes against their political beliefs they act out in anger. We, Ourselves, as a Progressive entity have the respect for all points of view even those with which We vehemently disagree. In the time since Our creation, We have tolerated many injustices seen. The time for those on Terra now is to move beyond the unseen toward the seen in a manner where all people can live the lives they wish within the law.

    The ACLU’s Communist origins
By: Paul Cella (Diary) | January 4th, 2011

The origins of the American Civil Liberties Union are deeply entangled with Communism. Not the idealistic “liberals in a hurry” stuff of fellow-travelling fairy tale, but the bloody-minded sedition and revolutionary terror of hard historical reality.

[ACLU founder Roger] Baldwin’s radicalism caught the eye of the FBI, which quoted him in a 1924 report as having said: “The right to advocate a violent revolution, assassination, and proletarian Red guard, are all clearly within scope of free speech …”

The ACLU founder traveled to Stalin’s Russia in 1927 and wrote a book titled “Liberty Under The Soviets” the following year, which defended the Lenin’s and Stalin’s repression of dissent because they “are weapons in the transition to socialism.”
