POLITICS IN THE BUFF: TRUMP’S FIRST WEEK AS COMPARED TO PRESIDENT OBAMA’S FIRST WEEK

Posted in DONALD TRUMP on 28/01/2017 by sarahbloch

Donald J. Trump’s first week in office as the 45th President of the United States began as many progressive observers expected– with a thud. Nearly from the very first moment there was controversy, with Trump going full blown Nixonian and forcing White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer out before the assembled press to lie about the size of the crowd at his inauguration. That gaffe was followed by Kellyanne Conway speaking with Meet The Press’ Chuck Todd and explaining that Spicer used “alternative facts.” Welcome to TrumpWorld ladies and gentlemen.

Trump did sign six executive orders this week, one more than President Obama signed in 2009 during his first week in office. By signing those orders , Trump kept several major campaign promises to the bigots that voted for him. Chief among these were the order to build a southern border wall and the banning of refugees from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States for 120 days. Challenges have already been made to the detaining of Muslim travelers at U.S. airports and many prominent observers have said that even if the border wall is built Trump will fail in his promise to have Mexico pay for it.

In 2009, President Obama was dealing with an economy that was near failing and unemployment racing toward 10%. In his first week in office he dealt with the issue of Guantanamo Bay’s detainees and the ban on gifts to lobbyists among his five executive orders. While President Obama began the heavy lifting of fixing the American economy facing its worst threat since the Great Depression, Trump, in contrast, has tripled down on what he promised during his campaign to the white nationalist elements in his base.

That’s one week down and 207 more to go.

WHAT TENNESSEE’S RICK TYLER DOES NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE AMERICAN ELECTORATE

“Make America Great Again,” says Trump. “Make America White Again,” say Rick Tyler independent candidate for the 3rd District House seat [Once held by Estes Kefauver]in Tennessee. Those two statements are one in the same to a segment of 18 million or so voters in the United States. Mostly living in rural areas and mostly having a high school diploma or less education, these white Americans are angry that the demographics are shifting, swiftly, against them in the nation that promised them unending privilege based upon race.

Rick Tyler posted the following on his website:

The “Make America White Again” billboard advertisement will cut to the very core and marrow of what plagues us as a nation. As Anne Coulter so effectively elucidates in her book, Adios America, the overhaul of America’s immigration law in the 1960’s has placed us on an inevitable course of demise and destruction. Yes…the cunning globalist/Marxist social engineers have succeeded in destroying that great bulwark against statist tyranny…the white American super majority. Without its expedited restoration little hope remains for the nation as a whole.

Make America White Again Rick Tyler

Well, really? Starting out quoting Ann Coulter is a recipe in disaster in itself but I will let that go this time. America is changing and I believe it is changing for the better. More diversity, more college educated professionals, more skilled tradesmen and women and America might just rise again under the leadership of Hillary Clinton to be as great as it once was. But this will only happen if the corporations that really run your country see a vast amount of profit in taking their foot off the necks of the middle class. So Mr Tyler it’s not about blacks or Latinos or even Muslims it’s about the staggering number of millions of meth addicted whites who are on welfare that will vote for you be cause OBAMA! And that my friends is the very definition of voting against your self interest.

keri-russell- primary results

As the photo above of the lovely and talented Keri Russell shows this expresses my emotion when I am told by a Trump supporter that the “silent majority” is behind them and that they are going to win in November. Mr Tyler white America is not a monolith as it was one hundred or even seventy-five years ago. Young white women are far more educated that they were fifty years ago. They vote the issues just like you did 25 years ago. Appealing to religion and race, finally in American politics, means nothing. Just like your failed bid to win a congressional seat will be simply another footnote of right wing bigotry in the history of American politics.

I WANT TWO OF WHAT RNC CHAIRMAN REINCE PRIEBUS HAD LAST NIGHT

Posted in BROKERED GOP CONVENTION, DONALD TRUMP, REINCE PREIBUS on 20/06/2016 by sarahbloch

sarah_bloch_9

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, like I am, is delighted that LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers have won the NBA title this year. But the RNC Chairman goes a step farther than any logical thinker in regard to tying their victory to the Republican Convention next month. The press release at GOP.com states:

Congratulations to the Cleveland Cavaliers! Through hard work and determination, they brought the city of Cleveland its first pro sports championship since 1964. This title is a testament to the Cavs’ heart and teamwork, and this team is just the first winner Cleveland will produce this summer!

I’m reading the tea leaves here but I have a mind that in the coming weeks when the GOP writes its convention rules they will be including language that will allow the Establishment to take the nomination away from Donald Trump. I say this because Priebus can’t possibly believe that Trump could win the White House. The RNC Chairman like most Republicans and Conservatives know that their party is in decline, but it would be better to rally behind an unknown or draft a primary failure than to become the White Nationalist party of the United States, thereby destroying the GOP before 2032.

PRESIDENT TRUMP

Posted in DONALD TRUMP on 04/06/2016 by Fredrick Schwartz, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H. [Journ.]

Over the past few weeks, many of them spent off and relaxing with Terri and Valeri on Rham for the first time in ages, I have been giving a bit of thought to just what a trump presidency would look like. In this article, I am going beyond the mysteries surrounding just how Trump would win and even by passing the option that the RNC has of denying him the nomination in the hope they can reanimate their party from the ashes of that inferno in 2020 with Speaker Paul Ryan. For a moment let’s suspend disbelief for a few moments and presume that Donald Trump wins the White House in November 2016.

In this scenario Trump is likely to have a GOP House and a GOP Senate. This would give him confidence that he can get his agenda moving forward quickly. Donald Trump, unlike any other President of the United States before him, will have a unique problem. His wealth, whether you believe he is worth $10 billion or $1 billion, will become the issue that most affects his presidency. As President, Trump will not have to stop being Donald Trump the businessman. This will become a constant point of contention with Progressives that have watch conservatives go into rictus every time President Obama has played a round of golf. While in that Washington Post article Trump said he didn’t have time for golf, as President it is certain that he will make time for the Trump Organization and this will be to the detriment of the American People.

The Trump Organization which spreads out over more than 500 subsidiaries, half of which command Trump’s direct attention as President, is something that this man cannot leave to the direction of others. Sure he has executive vice presidents that can handle day to day operations, but I cannot imagine a man like Donald Trump can simply leave that world of business to the devices of others to focus on being the Chief Executive of the United States of America. Distractions to the work of the people are common in the Oval Office. War, political infighting, scandal and legal wranglings are all known knowns.

If in 2019, in the height of a civil war in Eastern Europe where NATO allies safety and security might be in jeopardy Trump finds his organization struggling to finish a very profitable deal in the Middle East where does his attention lie? Will those who support Trump today, the same people who cast doubts on President Obama give a hypocritical pass to their man? The bigger question in all of this is: Can America have a President who is distracted by his corporate responsibilities in the golden age of the 24 hour news crisis?

WHAT THE TRUMP CANDIDACY REALLY MEANS

Posted in 2016 ELECTIONS, DONALD TRUMP on 17/05/2016 by Cavalor Epthith, Esquire, D.S.V.J

cavalor_hooves

Let us be done with the obvious in regard to the 2016 race for the White House. This election cycle has been different from any other since World War 2. The changes in both the Democratic and the Republican parties over the past twenty years are fully manifest in the fact that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are the presumptive nominees of their respective parties. Finally, the insanity, unpredictability and mudslinging have just begun.

Those things said, I believe that it is important to understand just how the American political system, rooted in two polarized parties arrived at this place in 2016. The Donald Trump candidacy did not come about because of ObamaCare, or due to the Culture War victories won by Progressives. The true naissance of Trump’s resonance with the estimated 30 million who support him is the effective dismantling of the coalition of voters who called themselves four short years ago Conservatives.

Many of my colleagues here would disagree with me, most notably with H L Mencken leading the pack, but the GOP will survive the 2016 election cycle. Conservatism, as a bulwark against Progressive technology and civil rights driven change, will not survive as a component of the GOP what rises out of this election whether they are victorious or defeated. Donald J Trump, billionaire real estate developer cum GOP nominee is by no means a conservative. He has said in town halls and interviews many things to appease the last vestiges of the Moral Majority on the Culture War issues of abortion and Christianity. Most of these comments and tweets have been taken with a grain of salt.

What Trump has done is find a commonality that goes beyond the Culture Wars and moves more toward what many Conservatives really desired and that is a strongman who will give them, in their limited remaining years on Terra a levee against the rising waters of Progressive Socialism which are sure to come by the middle of the 21st Century. Supporters of Trump do not want to feel better about the playing field being tilted away from white middle aged Christian men; they simply wish for the swift roller coaster of American society to slow down as they prepare to get off. Mencken to his credit said to me last night, “Trump’s campaign slogan could easily have been, ‘White men want to feel like they have all the Power! Again!'”

I agree with that fully. At no political time in American history in the last 80 years have middle class white Christian Americans suffered economically than they have over the last ten years. Their sons and daughters have been used as pawns in wars for oil in the Middle East brought forth from a GOP administration. They have lost their houses, cars, jobs and status at a dizzying rate [despite the fact that every recession in American history has deeply affected blacks, Latinos and women as white males were protected in their jobs.–F.S.]. As a demon journalist I would remiss in my duty if I did not acknowledge how difficult this past Great Recession was on those of a mindset to support Trump.

This brings me the cause of the Great Recession; that many of those white Christian Conservative males bought into the grand scheme to buy houses with no down payment and no collateral. Knowing this there is still the meme purported by Conservative media, bloggers and pundits, that poor blacks, Latinos and single mothers via the Community Reinvestment Act were the cause of the housing collapse. Clearly, this is not the case when you consider how many more private sector loans were bundled into derivatives which profited banks until the music stopped on 15 September 2008. One does need to remember that for Trump supporters facts matter less than the feeling that one is “winning”.

While they say they want America to be great again Trump supporters forget two important facts. One, that America is still a great nation, despite the GOP’s ill treatment of President Obama whom I feel will be seen as one of the greatest presidents in American history and its intractability on civil rights issues as it relates to the LGBTQ community. Second, if these 30 million angry people, most of them white male and over the age of 50 by the polling data, who support Trump want to relive the greatest economic prosperity of their lifetimes they would vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton and every Progressive they could in November. Alas, I know this not to be the case because they would rather have the near invincible feelings they had a teenagers in the post Vietnam era when being white Christian and male had a value that went beyond simply being a Human Being than to revisit the Clinton prosperity of the 1990s. And thus, you have the reality TV star businessman the de facto future leader of the GOP running against a Clinton in the last election that will have two parties in contention for the White House. Like it or not Reince Priebus, the third party which costs the GOP national power, and possibly a fourth party if the Clinton first term does not result in movement toward greater Progressive Socialism, is being birthed even as I write this article.

MITT ROMNEY WILL NOT ATTEND THE 2016 GOP CONVENTION IN CLEVELAND

Posted in 2016 ELECTIONS, 2016 US ELECTION, DONALD TRUMP, MITT ROMNEY on 05/05/2016 by sarahbloch

sarah_bloch_9

Just a few minutes ago, The Washington Post reported that for GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney will not attend the 2016 Republican Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. this announcement magnifies the rift within the GOP caused by the emergence of Donald Trump as the presumptive nominee after his victory this past Tuesday in the Indiana primary. Romney’s absence follows the announcements by the last two GOP Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush that they would not be aiding Trump during the campaign.

THE SATURDAY MODEST PROPOSAL: A FEW MARKETING IDEAS TO HELP THE GOP WITH THEIR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTILE DYSFUNCTION

Posted in 2016 ELECTIONS, 2016 US ELECTION, DONALD TRUMP, GOP, GOP 2016 CAMPAIGN, GOP AS A MINORITY PARTY, GOP MELTDOWN, TED CRUZ on 26/03/2016 by Fredrick Schwartz, D.S.V.J., O.Q.H. [Journ.]

fredschwartz1

It seems like it has been forever since the GOP occupied the White House doesn’t it? The GOP seems to be mired in the same swamp that the Democrats found themselves flailing in 1984 and 1988. Mondale and Dukakis were good men but presidential candidates? In hindsight, not so much. But as usual I am going tangential while simultaneously getting ahead of myself.

Obama reacts to Gingrich SC victory

The GOP base has grown tired of calling Barack Obama names and has left that buffet for the Elysian Fields of cannibalism. Yes, boys and girls the GOP has begun to use the same tactics they once used against Progressives on their own. Donald Trump has instigated a smear campaign against Ted Cruz via a scandalous, and untrue, account of marital infidelity published in the National Enquirer. That’s right the National Enquirer. This comes at the same time as a series of tweets that showed Heidi Cruz the wife of the GOP number two candidate side by side with Melania Trump. Well that’s not fair at all is it? I say that because number one the only reason Melania Trump is with Donald Trump is because he’s rich. Can we all agree on that? The two would have never met if he wasn’t so I think I win on that point. And as women married to conservative members of congress go Heidi Cruz is actually hot. Well in the same way that Kobe Bryant would be a superstar in the NBA over 35 game at next year’s All Star Game. Okay once again I digress.

Here is tip that will help the GOP get back on track and resolve the rifts within their own party and the gulf between Moderates and the three camps on the Right:

A politically branded ice cream flavor.

Everyone loves ice cream! Look how happy she is holding those sundaes! Her day is made! Okay enough exclamation points. They could come up with snappy patriotically nationalist names like “Border Wall Crunch” which would be vanilla with white chocolate sprinkles and a grey cone section that looks like cinderblock stuck on one side with a marzipan Mexican standing on the other side. Or maybe “Angry Voter” which would be vanilla with red white and blue sprinkles and a flaming cross [lit with Trump Vodka® made out of Popsicle sticks sitting prominently on top. The best one might actually “Cruz Cookie Dough Meltdown” a confection of vanilla ice cream vanilla cookie dough and vanilla sprinkles in a cone shaped like Melania Trump’s ass. That could united the GOP in minutes. And hey who doesn’t want to eat Melania Trump’s ass?

Melania Trump
In Hindsight

I have witnessed 15 campaigns for president since I was old enough to know what was going on and this year is the craziest I’ve seen. And that’s just on the GOP side. A race between Trump and Clinton will end in disaster for the GOP sending them once again back to the drawing board after the firing of Reince Priebus and calling in their political forensics team to do yet another election autopsy which will tell them they have to bring in more younger less white voters– and women. But we all know these are the things that the GOP doesn’t want to do. They want to be the party of the stupid, the angry, the bigoted, the intransigent screaming old fart, the mousy married middle aged white woman who is terrified of everything, the religious crackpot and the unstable gun owner. I knew the GOP would destroy itself before 2030 but I didn’t see Trump as the suicide bomber that would do the deed.
