A PEEK INSIDE THE CONSERVATIVE MIND: SEX VERSUS GUNS

Before you get the wrong idea this is a serious political post. Things are not as bad in the United States as you think they are. The struggle for power in politics in America is heightened into a fevered frenzy now that not only is there a turd in the GOP field punchbowl this turd is threatening to take more than a third of GOP voters with him if you identify him as a turd. There is no victory in any of this not calling a turd a turd for the GOP establishment. That is a problem that will play out as the only measures of purity for conservatives matter moving forward toward the convention next summer. But that impending category 5 shitstorm is another topic for another time.

This morning I want you to think back to the 1990s when concerns about teenage pregnancy and what children are being taught in schools about sex led conservative activists to pressure textbook writers and school systems into adopting abstinence only educational curricula. Sex, what should be a pleasurable and normal human function which should be understood on an intellectual level with education about the human body in age appropriate ways from childhood was now deemed as something that should never be done because it was too dangerous. The “liberal” educators could not be trusted to teach children what some felt were their values based upon their Christian beliefs. This was and to many still is a cornerstone in their conservative ideological foundation.

bikini-and-grease-gun

In Hindsight
I wonder then if abstinence until marriage seems logical to conservatives why does gun abstinence not make sense? In 2012 13,000 HIV positive people died according to the CDC. Many of those who died of HIV were heterosexual and they contracted the virus through sexual contact with a member of the opposite sex. Many conservatives have said in the past that HIV was sent down from their deity to punish the promiscuous. Then what about firearms? In 2013 the CDC states that gun deaths were over 33,000. This is more than double the number of HIV deaths. A logical person would surmise that conservatives would have the same desire to control deadly weapons as they would the sex lives of American minors.

As I sit here in my home relaxing after a very nice brunch with Veronica, I can’t help but think about history. Not just any history but the history of my former nation the United States of America and how it has been intertwined with the history of this newspaper. In just sixty-one days The Dis Brimstone-Daily Pitchfork will celebrate its tenth anniversary as a progressive and hard hitting news blog. Our very first story in late August 2005 was about the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Cavalor Epthith [q c p n!] made it clear after the first week that this blog was a work in progress and that our mission was not to change the minds of people but to “simply make them think.”

Well, people are thinking, some of them hopefully many of the more than a million that have read these pages, are. Cavalor after the first year said he was willing to keep the digital version of the paper alive for five Terran years and in that last few months before the fifth anniversary he would review our efforts and decide if it should continue for another five years. After the election of President Barack Obama and all the reporting the staff had done on the failure of the Iraq War there was a feeling of certainty that the plug would not be pulled.

On 29 August 2010 Cavalor said, “We simply cannot stop now just when things are getting interesting.” Oh, how much more interesting things have gotten since that day. This month has seen tragedy in Charleston, South Carolina as nine black Christians were murdered by a white supremacist terrorist and triumph as the United States’ Supreme Court upheld Obamacare and decided that same sex couples have marriage rights in all fifty states of the Union. Despite conservative warnings that the nation would tear itself apart if either of these decisions came to pass it is business as usual from Washington to Los Angeles on this fine morning.

So as is in my nature I’ve taken my victory lap over these two decisions, said a quiet prayer to the Fates on behalf of the grieving families of the victims in Charleston and gone back to the work that I am tasked to do here– looking for threads in the reports of news from all over Terra. There is still much work to do and Cavalor knows this best of all. Just yesterday he brought the staff in for a meeting about what we will be doing here digitally for the 2016 election. “So we’re not shutting up shop in late August?” I asked smiling. “Not a chance,” he said, “things are just getting interesting.”

More impressions from the staff on five more years of The Dis Brimstone-Daily Pitchfork follow over the rest of your week end.

THE ANONYMOUS LETTER SENT TO LAWRENCEVILLE SCHOOL ALUMNI THAT FORCED THE SCHOOL BACK TO THE BIGOTED 1950S

This letter is a testament to the racism and bigotry of the wealthy and white in America. There is no defense for this in the minds of these self appointed elites, except the nature of the greedy and privileged in a nation with pockets of Third World poverty. When i read this letter a third time their total lack of shame for feeling that the school should be more white and that athletics were more important than preparing young people with academic talent for a truly globalized collegiate experience. I will have another article about the changes in the Lawrenceville School Administration that were made possible by the fear generated by this letter later today. For now take the time to read this and understand that this is more than simply bigotry it is racism, misogyny and homophobia written with a golden pen bearing old money as ink:

TO OUR FELLOW LAWRENTIANS
Concerned about the directions the current leadership has taken our School, a group of alumni/ae, spanning all living decades of Lawrentians, including a number who served as class and alumni officers, trustees, class agents, parents and others who have given a lifetime of devoted service to Lawrenceville, began months ago to examine more closely several developing trends at the School in recent years. Our investigation revealed a number of developments that are disturbing. Concerns include financial management, admissions policy, administrative structure, campus life, abandonment of cherished traditions, and alumni affairs. Whether by design or indifference, we realized rather quickly that the communications all alumni/ae receive from the School do not provide an accurate picture of the School today. The purpose of this communication is to provide you, an alumnus/a stakeholder, an insight into the revelations we have discovered.
During the eleven-year tenure of Head Master Liz Duffy, Lawrenceville has increasingly forsaken the traditional core values that have sustained it for over two centuries, substituting values influenced by ideology and money. Of particular note, we found an engineered change in the demographics of the student body, a bloated and expensive administrative structure, and the demise of House sports which raises grave concerns about the viability of the House system as we have historically known it. We believe these changes have transformed and diminished the School from its standing as one of the preeminent American boarding schools, and the School’s basic philosophy has been remade without any meaningful notice to or input from its alumni. Some might describe Lawrenceville today as “PC Gone Wild.”
As you will note in the readings below, these changes to the historical character and personality of the School are dramatic and striking, appears to be the doings of one person, the Head Master, and have been rubber-stamped by a swollen, disengaged and sometimes oblivious Board of Trustees. Over time, the Lawrenceville Board (two members are ex officio) has grown to 34 members, 25% of whom are not alumni of the School. In contrast for example, the boards of Exeter and Andover average but twenty members each, and all are alumni of their respective schools. For the record, the Bylaws of our Board of Trustees once required members to be an alumnus and members were not permitted to serve more than two consecutive terms. Both of these provisions were abolished some years ago.
The Trustees are charged to act as the stewards and guardians of this great institution, and must safeguard those still-worthy traditional values that benefitted all of us. Yet the Board has failed to assert itself in its proper fiduciary role in the oversight of the School’s management plans, and has thus deferred to the Duffy administration to set the agenda and dictate policy.
Our School community is composed of students, faculty, parents, administration, staff, and, of course, alumni. Each has a critical role to play in monitoring the well-being of the School, and informing the other constituencies as they develop a vision and consensus for the School’s long term future. None should be taken for granted.
What follows is a brief presentation of our findings. Those of you who love Lawrenceville, as we do, will find them disturbing. If you do care about our School, you need to voice your concerns now, and we will seek your immediate support to revise the rules which govern the structure of our Board of Trustees.
FINANCIAL CONCERNS
Tuition
This current school year Lawrenceville, for the second consecutive year, claimed the top spot on Business Insider’s list as the most expensive private school in America based upon day student tuition, topping rivals Hotchkiss and Phillips Exeter.
From the fiscal school year 2003-04 to the present, the boarding tuition has exploded 71% from $31,132 to $53,320 while the day student tuition has risen an alarming 76% (from $25,108 to $44,100). This is an unsustainable trend, which has placed the Lawrenceville education out of the affordable reach of far too many families, including many sons and daughters of alumni.
During this same last eleven years, while total faculty has remained constant, total employees have remained constant (329 vs 332) and the student total has grown by 10 from 805 to 815, the actual operating expense budget in the fiscal year ending June 2004 ($43.68 million) has expanded over 49% to a budget of $65.19 million for the current fiscal year ending June 2014.
For the school year ending in June, total inflation for the ten years 2004 – 2013 was 24.6%, significantly below both the growth rates of tuition costs and the operating expense budget of the school.
Endowment/Debt
The School’s endowment, as of the 6/30/13 report, stood at $338 million, a relatively small amount and a ranking of sixth among Lawrenceville’s eight peer school group when compared in gross endowment per student, significantly below those schools ranked #4 and #5 above us. Due to our smaller endowment and the obvious quality of our physical plant, a higher percentage of our revenue must come from tuition to balance our budget. For the current fiscal school year, 63% of our budget is funded by tuition, whereas, for example, at Andover and Exeter tuition represents materially less than 40% of the respected budget (mid-low 30%). Lawrenceville’s competitiveness with its peer schools has been damaged.
At the commencement of this current school year, the School had in excess of $55 million of debt outstanding. Moody’s Investors Service estimates that approximately 62% of our School’s financial resources are permanently restricted, providing further constraint to our financial flexibility. The Dec. 12, 2012 Moody’s report, while affirming the then current ratings on the debt (Aa3), restated its negative outlook:
“The negative outlook reflects the School’s diminished and thin liquidity and debt service coverage coupled with a complex debt structure, as well as our expectation of narrow net tuition revenue growth, high reliance on unrestricted gifts, and slightly elevated endowment draw.”
No doubt, a thorough review of the School’s operating budget must be made and a more robust endowment is critical to the long term financial health of the School. In the last five years ending June 2013, on average only 34% of our alumni have participated in supporting Annual Giving and if not for the incredible generosity of Henry Woods and family, the capital campaign ending in December 2010 would have fallen woefully short of its goals. As Wes Brooks, the School’s Chief Financial Officer, has stated “… if donor revenue is not performing, tuition has to be the shock absorber.” Lawrenceville is blessed with a terrific and historically supportive alumni body and the School’s current Board leadership must turn to the Alumni now for advice and support.
ADMINISTRATIVE/ACADEMIC STRUCTURE
In 2009, a letter from a concerned parent was circulated to a number of alumni and touched on several of the issues we still find troubling today:
” … decisions are driven by a pedagogical agenda that threatens the core values of The Lawrenceville School … the administrative structure has become top-heavy and expensive … two years ago, over twenty highly regarded and experienced teachers left the School … many left because of concerns over deteriorating faculty-administrative relations, poor morale and deleterious changes in curricula and scheduling … ”
This administrative structure includes Coordinator for Self-Study for Professional Growth, Dean of Residential Life and Coordinator of Teaching and Learning. The School now has both a CFO and a Comptroller/Director of Finance. The Alumni development office has a Director of Advancement, a Director of Capital Programs, Director of Planned Giving, and of course, a Director of Alumni Relations. Today, Lawrenceville lists some 17 senior staff members, significantly higher than those of its peer schools.
In the last eleven years (‘03-04-‘13-‘14), there have been some substantial increases in non-teaching areas:

ADMISSIONS
Lawrenceville – a national, residential secondary school from its founding – has been reversing course in the last number of years, and dramatically so in the last decade. Multiculturalism, globalization, and diversity are the hallmark standards of the Admissions Office today. In the year 2003-04, Lawrenceville’s student body was primarily Caucasian American (70%) with 13% Asian and 8% International; in the current year those numbers are 55% Caucasian American, 21% Asian and 14% International. Diversity – racial, cultural and geographical – is certainly a valuable feature of Lawrenceville and every other great school. However, we feel that the School’s interpretations of multiculturalism, and the implementation of policies stemming from this view, have become increasingly distracting.
With more attention of the Admissions Office directed to international markets, there is certainly less effort focused on attracting students nationwide from the American market. In the last year, approximately 70% of the total applicant pool was from the U.S., and of that total, approximately 67% were from the tri-state area of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. It should be noted that over some time, pre-dating this current administration, the student body has contained 31-33% day students on average and this large number certainly has an impact on the character of Lawrenceville as a residential school.
Also of special note is that of ‘legacy’ applicants and the special attention that may or may not be given currently to such applicants and their respective families by Admissions. The history and the importance of legacy to Lawrenceville is so well documented – – – through generations the legacy factor no doubt has provided a stable and positive influence. Just prior to this most recent round of admission acceptances, the Admission Office sent a letter to the respective families involved with legacy applicants:
“… given the competiveness of the process, legacy affiliation … cannot serve to counterbalance any weakness … in an application … as part of this process, the Admission Office does consider legacy status which represents a positive point of interest … in recent years, legacy applicants have earned admission at a higher rate than other applicants … ” (which last year was 18%).
In the 2013-14 cycle, the School admitted 248 new Lawrentians – – – of that total, only 10.4% (or 26) are students whose father or grandfather attended Lawrenceville.
Outgoing headmistress Liz Duffy serves on the Board of Princeton based “International Schools Services” and the Duffy administration has consistently favored a greater international representation in the student body and faculty. At meetings this past January 16-17, Lawrenceville’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved “Strategic Directions II”, a plan to be executed over the next seven years to build on the School’s traditional strengths while responding to emerging trends. As promoted by Duffy, this plan projects the School to be fully globally oriented within 2020, whereby, among various rubrics, the student body would be at least 15-20% international but where the School would have ‘geography – blind’ admissions and international financial aid. The plan also calls for the Board governance to include at least 15% overseas board members with regular international meetings.
The trends in Admissions policy and the specifics of Strategic Directions II beg the question – – – is Lawrenceville moving to transform itself into an international school or is Lawrenceville going to adjust and reassume its two hundred year history as an American national residential secondary school leader, with a moderate percent of international representation and a re-establishment of the sensitivity to the legacy application? Again, we would suggest the current Board leadership turn to its Alumni for advice and support.

CAMPUS LIFE/TRADITIONS
In the last eleven years under outgoing Head Master Liz Duffy, the School has turned away from many of the traditions that have fostered community among Lawrentians for generations and that have insured stability over so many years.
Duffy, who does not teach a traditional academic subject and who students report is not engaged in day-to-day campus life, has not lived in Foundation House for several years. The official residence of Lawrenceville’s Head Master since it was built, Foundation House is now partly occupied by the Alumni & Development Office and its future use is now “under consideration” by the Board of Trustees.
The Circle House sporting traditions, heralded in the writings of Owen Johnson and dating back to the 19th Century when our unique House System was implemented, and which, of course, are held in fond and respectful memory by all Alumni, now appear to be fighting extinction. We all learned of the termination of the House tackle football this past fall, when celebrating its 124th anniversary as the oldest tackle football league in America; there has been no House soccer, House baseball or spring House track meet for several years. It was reported that most, if not all, of the Board of Trustees were unaware of the demise of the wonderful tradition of House sports until the major outcry of Alumni regarding the termination of the House tackle football league. The tragic difficulties experienced by the Circle House sporting traditions has to be credited to the objectives of the administration and the applicant demographics which the School is seeking for admission.
The School has begun using common grade level nomenclature instead of “Forms” and increasing references to “dorms” instead of “Houses”. The School Hymn is rarely sung and virtually abandoned, saved for Alumni memorial services. The Chapel Hymnal, developed by and for use at Lawrenceville, has been replaced with a homogenized generic volume.
This administration has openly promoted and advocated the benefits of alternative life styles throughout the entire student body community, including II Formers ages 14 and 15 years old. A Diversity Council was established and an example of policy implemented by the School was represented by an interview with a student member of the Diversity Council in The Lawrence on 10/11/13, who stated:
“The introduction of gender-neutral bathrooms will signify that gender is not a rigid binary system and people do not have to necessarily define themselves as a single gender. This idea will eliminate the discomfort a Lawrentian may feel when they are required to pick a bathroom and … will benefit those who are transgender, intersexual, or do not specifically identify to … male or female.”
From the article “House Life, Chris, a transgender student from Lawrenceville” Huffington Post, 6/21/13:
“On campus, I think a lot of people here don’t necessarily understand what it means that I’m transgender … I would rather be in a guy dorm but I don’t think the school is allowed to put someone who is female-bodied in a male dorm. Living in a house full of girls … I don’t want them to feel like I’m alienating them.”
The Duffy administration touts the lack of disciplinary issues in recent years but a more accurate conclusion may be that the rules are not enforced. A classic example occurred over this past year – – – prior to the student council elections in the spring 2013, a cheating incident and drug use by a candidate were kept under wraps by the Dean of Students. The offending student won by eight votes. In the last several weeks that student made racist comments online offending white, prep school boys and was then forced to resign as President of the School.
In the last several months, members of Concerned Lawrenceville Alumni have interviewed three current, very reputable, long-standing Head Masters of three highly regarded boarding schools in America and all three school leaders were very knowledgeable that Lawrenceville had serious problems of leadership. In fact, one of these Head Masters stated that Lawrenceville is “being lead not by an educator but by an ideologue who knows nothing about education.”
In recent months many Lawrentians have voiced grave concerns for the School along the following:
“… the true lack of leadership is now manifesting itself in disillusionment on a number of fronts. I also fault the Board of Trustees for dropping the ball, shirking their true responsibilities of oversight …”
“… the supposed core traditions and values are not just being sacrificed, they may be being abandoned wholesale … it must be a conscious undertaking …”
Lawrenceville was once a school that honored and treasured its so respected traditions and was a school which fostered a strong sense of community. It was a school that felt an obligation to pay attention to the whole student, giving equal attention to the person’s academic, physical, moral and spiritual development. What has happened to the core value of living a life of honor? What has our school become? Lawrenceville has so often relied on the loyalty of its alumni and this current Board must now turn to our Alumni for advice and support.
Please click on the “Click to Vote” button below to be transferred to our ballot initiative. You will be asked to vote for two resolutions to make changes on the Board of Trustees that we feel we are essential to correcting the current issues.

I am currently reading John Nolte’s article on 11 reasons the Left has not won the Culture War at Breitbart.com. Simply reading this is making my day because I love to laugh in the morning. Millions of conservatives have likely read this today and more than a thousand have commented. Those comments will be covered by Fred Schwartz later in the day.

Nolte begins with same sex marriage which I see as a full faith and credit legal issue not a moral and religious one. I don’t think, however, that any shop owner has a right to refuse service to a gay couple anymore than they have the right to refuse service to a person based on their race, religion, gender or disability. The author feels that the “voice of the people” has been tossed out in favor of the rulings of “activist judges.” In a bizarre twist John Nolte points to a rise in “Christian entertainment” as proof that Americans really do not want people they do not know of the same sex to get married. The singular example is the film “Heaven is for Real” which has grossed nothing yet because the film is to be released today. Nolte’s point is that Sony TriStar Pictures has decided to release the film on a Wednesday in 2,417 theaters. This film and others like it are one point Nolte shows as proof that on the topic of same sex marriage the Right is winning. I will make a claim here: Heaven is for Real will not make more money between its premiere and the end of the box office weekend than “Transcendence” will make from its opening until Sunday night on a theater by theater basis.

The next Culture War issue is the legalization of marijuana. Both Washington state and Colorado have legalized the weed most notorious to conservatives and more states are moving to decriminalize small amounts. Most recently the state of Maryland did just that becoming the first state south of the Dixon-Line to decriminalize pot. Fourteen other states and the District of Columbia have also done so. Nolte does not address any of the medical reasons for pot use or even recreational ones as a justification for a victory here in the Culture war. Instead he states that abortion rights activists are on their heels quoting an article on Breitbart.com no less about a poll conducted by the Knights of Columbus regarding abortion rights. The Gallup Polling Service numbers show that those who view themselves as pro-Life vice those that are pro-Choice are nearly equal at 48% to 45%. The numbers of those seeing abortion as federally defined from the same poll vice those who do not believe abortion should be legal at all is 52% vice 20% as of May 2013. Nolte loses this battle as well.

Nolte sticks with entertainment decrying the amount of sex on television but reveling in what he calls the return of the masculine male on the National Geographic Channel. These shows according to the author “celebrate the working class and their traditional values.” What he really means is they celebrate being white, Christian and living in the woods or where it’s very cold. The next “reason” the Right is winning the Culture War is the ascendancy of Jimmy Fallon to the Tonight Show as a counter to Stephen Colbert stepping into David Letterman’s slot after his retirement next year. There is no rhyme or reason to this at all.

The next nugget reveals something about conservatives. They like strong male characters. Nolte point to Don Draper [Mad Men] Walter White [Breaking Bad] and Tony Soprano [The Sopranos] as examples of these. They are called “flawed” and “anti-heroes” and I imagine that takes the guilt away for all the nudity, sex, drugs and violence which conservative say they are against on TV.

More entertainment, really? Miley Cyrus is popular but unions are dying says Nolte. I fear conservatives may never come out of this irrational abyss. As if the weakness of unions in America is a good thing for those working class people they say they love?

Conservative media is on the upswing says Nolte. Well get back to me in 20 years when most Fox News viewers are either dead or senile or have slaughtered their family. There is a trend in there demographically if you just take the time to look.

Women are getting birth control but conservatives have their guns! This is awful. War on women much? The fear of the Other is oozing here.

Nolte sees more money in politics as a solution to what ails the Right politically. No John, the key would be to make your tent bigger. Oh, that’s right you can’t do that because you’d have to let in all those brown people, women and gay people on a level playing field.

Yes, Occupy is dead but given time the TEA Party will wither as well. I think the date on that tombstone will be somewhere around 1 February 2017.

What John Nolte needs is a time machine so he can return to that conservative era of his father the 1950s. Back then by conservative standards women were in their place (not barefoot and pregnant but seen and not heard), minorities were second class citizens and it was a crime to be gay. It must be awful for John Nolte to have to watch as all that unearned privilege is redistributed in the form of earned civil rights.

Amazona there is a difference between taking a short cut to the Moral High Ground and actually looking out from the Moral High Ground. I’ll give you this point you are absolutely right that it is as simple as voting for Progressive or Liberal candidates to get your moral superiority biscuit. As a group Progressives do stand for good things. Being against poverty, torture, corruption, misogyny, bigotry, abuse aren’t simply things that Progressives are against though. Conservatives are also against many of these societal scourges.

This is where things get confusing and clearly why conservatives are tripped up and find themselves unpopular both electorally and in general. Progressives don’t require a purity test, a loyalty test, or a religious affiliation to walk into our tent. Conservatives with their messages about tax rates being too high should, on that issue alone, have had a way in to the minds of the moderates and independents out there but for some reason they have a social agenda that is more important to them than the economic agenda.

Issues like same sex marriage, abortion and immigration are where conservatives fail simply because their tent is not as inclusive. I’m not going to be so closed minded as to say that this is because of some grand bigoted conspiracy but it is what it is. Conservatives offer little to blacks, Latinos, members of the LGBTQ community, single mothers or the non religious. The coalition that has been built by conservatives since the fall of Nixon of working class whites in the rural West and South and a few upper middle class and wealthy whites who have an agenda driven by heredity and inheritance. This coalition had a majority during the Reagan era and had the Moral High Ground in the dying age of the Cold War. This coalition drove America forward to a conservative vision that likely thought that with political power would come the power to change society; to pull it back from the brink. At this point in Reagan’s second term no one would have imagined that 18 states and the District of Columbia would recognize the marriage rights of same sex couples.

And yet, thirty years later, here you are in an America that seems nearly alien to you. Looking up at people like me who are standing on top of the mountain of Morality. What happened? Is the question most of you are asking and that is the smartest question you can ask and it has an easy answer. Three decades ago, the Greatest Generation were the electoral force in America. They were more conservative than even you Amazona having never dabbled in the experimentation of the 1960s and 1970s with Liberalism as you have said you did. These men and women who were adults in the 1940s and 1950s were around your age now in the 1980s and Reagan was an ultimate relief to them. Hey were afraid the Greatest were that all of their hard work to secure freedom and liberty for the coming generations of THEIR CHILDREN was going to wasted by the creeping Socialism, Diversity and Depravity that they saw in Liberalism.

The answer is obvious what happened. Those from the Greatest Generation had children, the Baby Boomers, and those Boomers had children in the 1970s. Those Generation X children had children Generation Y, or the Millenials. Being born now to the Generation Y women are the Digital Natives of the information age or Gen Z kids. The easy answer to the question of what happened to fear of authoritarian religious, political or corporate power is the last generation that never questioned them has nearly died entirely and has been replaced with an ever more questioning set of grandchildren.

Those grandchildren continued the trend of questioning all authority that began in the 1960s into the new Millennium. I’ll be the first to admit that the War on Poverty was a failure because it simply threw money at a problem that could not be solved so simply. However, in that time the Greatest Generation still held sway on all matters social and the ground was not yet fertile for the sort of change that one sees today.

hindsight 2315
In Hindsight
On my side of the great political divide Progressives worry about the pendulum swinging back toward conservatism on a daily basis. Maybe the generation that will be born to young girls that are infants now in America in the 2030s and 2040s will hearken back to the nostalgic days of the 1940s and 1950s. Who knows? By the time they go to the polls for the first time they will live in an America so saturated in information both for the good and the bad that the messages that resonated with 21 year olds in 1945 will seem as archaic as silent movies do today.

I take Fred Schwartz’s decision to distance this newspaper from the cancer that is Blogs4Victory very seriously so after this example of conservative hypocrisy from the disgraced Bill Logan I too will be taking a sabbatical from commenting on their delusions. These people constantly state that the writers and researchers here are living in a fantasy world yet it is the fantasy that is supported by their own religious beliefs. “There cannot be a Heaven without a Hell,” is a constant in this Afterlife. Yet religious Conservatives at B4V mock that their is even a possibility that I, or Fred Schwartz or Pain even exist in the realm where we do live. To sum up, their fantasies, that all of their loved ones go to Heaven must be true because it supports their worldview; our reality is impossible because it is in conflict with their ideal that all Conservatives go to Heaven.

This level of delusion is important to understand when dealing with Conservatives especially ones of an age that lived through the Cold War. The fight against the Marxist-Leninism of the Soviet Union was supposed to be the last great fight that America was ever to have. It would be a winner take all battle between Communism and Capitalism, Christianity versus Atheism and Democracy versus Totalitarianism. Of course, this hasn’t been the case. There were many complexities politically and economically that do not fit into neat little boxes regarding the collapse of the Soviet Union. The same thing would have been true has America been broken up for similar reasons and the Soviets won the ideological battle for Terra.

Bill Logan, aka Neocon1, makes light of many things. He mocks the working poor and their struggle for a Living Wage. What he does is typical of a man who is angry that Death is so close and he has not been rewarded on Terra with what he felt he deserved because he was loyal to his racial tribe and religious tribe. As a Human Being, in that great struggle to become one he has failed because he has chosen the opposite path of Nelson Mandela and now fights for hate rather than love. To be on the side of hate is to relish lying and obscuring the facts to convince the other rotting souls who ally with conservatism that the Progressives are due for punishment for taking away the golden future that white Conservatives were promised. That golden future, sadly for Bill Logan is neither the golden shower he lusts for, nor is it a golden parachute; that future now is being enjoyed by the powerful oligarchs of the American 1%.

Neocon1 in his most recent tour de force of hypocrisy and obfuscation note that McDonald’s is installing 7,000 touch screens at restaurants to replace cashiers. It is a response to last week’s push by fast food workers for a Living Wage in the United States. Neocon1 gives the impression with his post that the hammer is going to come down on McDonald’s workers for standing up to their corporate masters. However, this story is neither about McDonald’s restaurants in the United States nor is it a current reaction to the protests. The story is about restaurants in Europe and was originally written in May of 2011. In the article itself, are the words, “McDonald’s says they have no interest in replacing cashiers with kiosks in Australia, however, or anywhere else for that matter.” So once again Neocon1 depends on the rabid stupidity of the other walking corpses of Conservatism who gobble up the feces of bigotry and anti-intelelctualism at B4V. To me they are to be pitied not to waste digital space on here or anywhere else. For at least a few months, unless their crimes of hypocrisy are grave, I will devote my time to pressing home the Progressive agenda to my American readers and enjoying the warm weather here in Hell.

Yesterday Ron Mapes of Concord, New Hampshire wrote the following letter to the editor of the Concord Monitor:

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”– Sen. Barack Obama, March 2006

I think this statement by Obama, failed leader of this nation, pretty much explains to all honest, true red-blooded American patriots who love God and country what exactly is wrong with the United States of America right now. The time for Obama’s impeachment is now; the proof is there many times over. It’s time to get rid of those we elected last time and bring in honest, faithful political leaders who have the guts to get the job done and get it done right the first time.

It’s obvious those we elected last time were bought and paid for, not elected. Wake up and get it right this time.

Mr Mapes selectively quotes then Senator Obama’s speech of 16 March 2006 on the floor of the United States Senate. The full text of that speech is archived here at Snopes.com. The point the letter writer is trying to make is not a simple one, however, We, Ourselves, see the message as very clear. President Obama, to Mr Mapes and millions of other like minded Americans, is not an honest person. To the conservative element bent on having its way despite being a retrograde minority view sees the 44th President of the United States as the antithesis of a “true red blooded American patriot.” The leader of the free world therefore to the far right does not love the G-d that all conservative white Americans worship on this very day. And most definitively this man that was twice elected President does not love the country despite garnering 135 million votes in those two elections and presiding over the most difficult economic recovery in American since the Great Depression.

Mapes says the time for Impeachment of the sitting president is now. We, Ourselves of The Collective and the Meditators feel America, to use a popular colloquialism has bigger fish to fry. We believe that those who believe as this man does are fighting a war long lost on behalf of the memory of those long dead who reaped the benefits of generations of misogyny, bigotry and power concentrated in the hands of a tribally loyal few. The Collective understands that there is huge profit in telling people with closed minds exactly what they want to hear. Rush Limbaugh has made a career of doing just that. We, Ourselves, would ask you, the reader of this post, what has Limbaugh ever offered as a solution to any of the problems that America has today? Better, when his ideology ruled in Washington did he do anything other than to support his side blindly?

The Meditators often ask why people, no matter how tribally motivated do such things? We ask the same question in regard to minority violence in urban centers all across America? But unlike the far right which seeks only to blame others for its ills while offering nothing new as a solution, We Ourselves do strive to put measures forth to stem the suffering of the American middle class. Ron Mapes ideology is not the disease it is a symptom of the inability for a segment of America not to be able to let go of the need to have someone to struggle against vice joining the fight for Progress. Trillions have been wasted on the War on Drugs and the War on Poverty which were doomed without utilizing the proper tools. The solutions to both are legalization and education. To be a member of free society demands both responsibility and sacrifice and to that end ideological conservatives and thugs that want to hurt people and damage property are joined at the hip. Neither see what they are doing to their reputations as a group as harm because they are enjoying their moment in the sun.

Impeachment is not the solution to the problems that Ron Mapes sees that are a cancer in America, because Obama is not the problem. The problem in America now is that the conservative ideologues on Main Street USA have taken the Middle Class hostage piled them onto a train speeding toward a mountain tunnel where the poor are forced to roam and are smiling all the way to the bank with overflowing campaign coffers thanks to Citizens United. If you want more freedom and prosperity in America do not vote for the party that wants to send America back to back alley abortions, racial segregation and criminal prosecutions for LGBT persons; vote for a party that wants all people to be at least middle class and if you falter will be there with a safety net to allow you to reach for the brass ring. Bruce Currie who comments on the letter makes the obvious even more clear:\

This letter illustrates the extent to which some in this country are completely divorced from reality–when it comes to economics, politics, and virtually anything that requires coherent thought. That’s a summary description of those who identify as Tea Party members or their fellow travelers. Ted Cruz and his merry band of pranksters have led the Republican Party to the brink–and are taking the country with it. They’re getting hammered in the polls, and dragging the greater Republican Party down with them. Their recklessness is hurting millions of Americans who depend on the government, and yet we have some here who are cheering them on, and blaming the president and the Democrats for what is entirely the fault of a few extremist Republicans. Have they no appreciation for facts and the truth? Have they no shame?

Does this sound familiar?
