I have heard many times that the mainstream media in in the tank for Progressive causes or even more so for the Progressive Agenda. At a new site, that debuted today run by Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro the title of this post is the first line in their statement of purpose. In this morning’s editorial meeting our Ombudsman and Consiglieri Ciu cava daelth Nixhot asked each of us to give our opinion of the messages in this conservative site’s mission statement. immediately upon reading the statement I found the very first line very curious.

I thought back to the passes that the Reagan administration got on the criminal Iran/Contra scandal. Then the media feeding frenzy of innuendo and salacious reporting that swirled around the Clinton/Lewinsky sex scandal. Few of the Progressives in the big box media went into any investigative depth on the death of the DC Madam.

Kathleen Saville

Clearly, I digress here. What Shapiro is talking about isn’t the scandal end of the MSM but how the people who vote in the United States perceive their candidates after having their words filtered by news producers. In the defense of those who work behind the scenes in television news the foibles of conservative political candidates are not their fault. Charles Jaco did not get an encrypted message from some nameless faceless far left political organizer instructing him to ask Todd Akin a question that would turn into the answer that blew up his political career. Jaco simply asked a question that he would have asked any political candidate about a social issue of the day.

There is a horrible fallacy here and an issue that I have to take with those who can find nothing positive in the Progressive view of politics. Clint Eastwood’s star turn at the GOP convention last year was seen by hundreds of millions of people broadcast live and repeatedly viewed on Youtube. For some it was a revelation in the form of acting out what they felt about President Obama. To others it was a sad and broken commentary on the nature of the conservative movement today. For the latter it bore out great truths about the GOP and its TEA Party faction; they are white, old, male, bitter and close-minded. For the former it told the tale of just how badly they wanted The Other out of office. That determination was made by the viewer. In this case the Media was not the Message.

Mitt Romney Campaigns Across U.S. For Super Tuesday Primaries

Mitt Romney lost the election in 2012 for many reasons. When he was being himself behind closed doors he said things that he would never say in a stump speech and when the media exposed this comment about the 47% the phrase became a rallying cry for Progressives. The fact he said such a thing in a room full of wealthy donors is news. Had Barack Obama said something about the need to take guns from gun owners at a fundraising dinner I am sure the MSM would have run that story and such news would have equally galvanized and energized the GOP base. The other side of the coin is that Romney was not allowed to be his affable self in front of crowds who wanted more to hear Obama bashing of the sort Sarah Plain engaged in 2008. They didn’t want to hear Romney’s message they wanted their own anti-Obama voice echoed by their candidate.

The belief that conservative ideas currently hold a majority among Americans is a non starter. The American people are more polarized than ever in volume but not in substance. Americans have always had a moderate streak it’s just that today the younger Americans, women and minorities have become a voting bloc that is seeking a greater voice in politics, business and government. There isn’t really a home in the GOP for women but there might be a home for them in the TEA Party if they “stay in their place.”

As the new media becomes the established media over the next few decades in America the medium is becoming the message. Ben Shapiro of infamy has launched whose mission is summed up with:

The media win elections for the left. It’s not the left’s competence in office; leftists have demonstrated none. It’s not the left’s ideas; leftist ideas have failed everywhere they have been tried. The left wins for one simple reason: leftists control the information distribution system in the United States. And they use that system to pillory conservatives heartless bigots intent on harming the poor and targeting minorities.

The media must be destroyed where they stand. That is our mission at Truth Revolt. The goal of TruthRevolt is simple: unmask leftists in the media for who they are, destroy their credibility with the American public, and devastate their funding bases.

TruthRevolt focuses on high-profile media members, and holding them accountable. But TruthRevolt does not stop there. TruthRevolt understands that all politics is local, and therefore looks to fight leftist propaganda at the local level, monitoring local newspapers, television and radio. TruthRevolt also seeks to stop the left dead in its tracks when it comes to training the next generation, our college campuses.

TruthRevolt works to make advertisers and funders aware of the leftist propaganda they sponsor – and bringing social consequences to bear to create pressure on such advertisers and funders.

This will get personal. This will get rough. We’re ready for action.

We need your help, and we want you to get involved — not just by giving money, but by becoming a TruthRevolt fighter. See our “Join the Fight” page to learn how you can help.

I find this an interesting mission statement and have offered it to the rest of the editorial writers here to comment upon today.
