I am currently reading John Nolte’s article on 11 reasons the Left has not won the Culture War at Breitbart.com. Simply reading this is making my day because I love to laugh in the morning. Millions of conservatives have likely read this today and more than a thousand have commented. Those comments will be covered by Fred Schwartz later in the day.

Nolte begins with same sex marriage which I see as a full faith and credit legal issue not a moral and religious one. I don’t think, however, that any shop owner has a right to refuse service to a gay couple anymore than they have the right to refuse service to a person based on their race, religion, gender or disability. The author feels that the “voice of the people” has been tossed out in favor of the rulings of “activist judges.” In a bizarre twist John Nolte points to a rise in “Christian entertainment” as proof that Americans really do not want people they do not know of the same sex to get married. The singular example is the film “Heaven is for Real” which has grossed nothing yet because the film is to be released today. Nolte’s point is that Sony TriStar Pictures has decided to release the film on a Wednesday in 2,417 theaters. This film and others like it are one point Nolte shows as proof that on the topic of same sex marriage the Right is winning. I will make a claim here: Heaven is for Real will not make more money between its premiere and the end of the box office weekend than “Transcendence” will make from its opening until Sunday night on a theater by theater basis.

The next Culture War issue is the legalization of marijuana. Both Washington state and Colorado have legalized the weed most notorious to conservatives and more states are moving to decriminalize small amounts. Most recently the state of Maryland did just that becoming the first state south of the Dixon-Line to decriminalize pot. Fourteen other states and the District of Columbia have also done so. Nolte does not address any of the medical reasons for pot use or even recreational ones as a justification for a victory here in the Culture war. Instead he states that abortion rights activists are on their heels quoting an article on Breitbart.com no less about a poll conducted by the Knights of Columbus regarding abortion rights. The Gallup Polling Service numbers show that those who view themselves as pro-Life vice those that are pro-Choice are nearly equal at 48% to 45%. The numbers of those seeing abortion as federally defined from the same poll vice those who do not believe abortion should be legal at all is 52% vice 20% as of May 2013. Nolte loses this battle as well.

Nolte sticks with entertainment decrying the amount of sex on television but reveling in what he calls the return of the masculine male on the National Geographic Channel. These shows according to the author “celebrate the working class and their traditional values.” What he really means is they celebrate being white, Christian and living in the woods or where it’s very cold. The next “reason” the Right is winning the Culture War is the ascendancy of Jimmy Fallon to the Tonight Show as a counter to Stephen Colbert stepping into David Letterman’s slot after his retirement next year. There is no rhyme or reason to this at all.

The next nugget reveals something about conservatives. They like strong male characters. Nolte point to Don Draper [Mad Men] Walter White [Breaking Bad] and Tony Soprano [The Sopranos] as examples of these. They are called “flawed” and “anti-heroes” and I imagine that takes the guilt away for all the nudity, sex, drugs and violence which conservative say they are against on TV.

More entertainment, really? Miley Cyrus is popular but unions are dying says Nolte. I fear conservatives may never come out of this irrational abyss. As if the weakness of unions in America is a good thing for those working class people they say they love?

Conservative media is on the upswing says Nolte. Well get back to me in 20 years when most Fox News viewers are either dead or senile or have slaughtered their family. There is a trend in there demographically if you just take the time to look.

Women are getting birth control but conservatives have their guns! This is awful. War on women much? The fear of the Other is oozing here.

Nolte sees more money in politics as a solution to what ails the Right politically. No John, the key would be to make your tent bigger. Oh, that’s right you can’t do that because you’d have to let in all those brown people, women and gay people on a level playing field.

Yes, Occupy is dead but given time the TEA Party will wither as well. I think the date on that tombstone will be somewhere around 1 February 2017.

What John Nolte needs is a time machine so he can return to that conservative era of his father the 1950s. Back then by conservative standards women were in their place (not barefoot and pregnant but seen and not heard), minorities were second class citizens and it was a crime to be gay. It must be awful for John Nolte to have to watch as all that unearned privilege is redistributed in the form of earned civil rights.

I take Fred Schwartz’s decision to distance this newspaper from the cancer that is Blogs4Victory very seriously so after this example of conservative hypocrisy from the disgraced Bill Logan I too will be taking a sabbatical from commenting on their delusions. These people constantly state that the writers and researchers here are living in a fantasy world yet it is the fantasy that is supported by their own religious beliefs. “There cannot be a Heaven without a Hell,” is a constant in this Afterlife. Yet religious Conservatives at B4V mock that their is even a possibility that I, or Fred Schwartz or Pain even exist in the realm where we do live. To sum up, their fantasies, that all of their loved ones go to Heaven must be true because it supports their worldview; our reality is impossible because it is in conflict with their ideal that all Conservatives go to Heaven.

This level of delusion is important to understand when dealing with Conservatives especially ones of an age that lived through the Cold War. The fight against the Marxist-Leninism of the Soviet Union was supposed to be the last great fight that America was ever to have. It would be a winner take all battle between Communism and Capitalism, Christianity versus Atheism and Democracy versus Totalitarianism. Of course, this hasn’t been the case. There were many complexities politically and economically that do not fit into neat little boxes regarding the collapse of the Soviet Union. The same thing would have been true has America been broken up for similar reasons and the Soviets won the ideological battle for Terra.

Bill Logan, aka Neocon1, makes light of many things. He mocks the working poor and their struggle for a Living Wage. What he does is typical of a man who is angry that Death is so close and he has not been rewarded on Terra with what he felt he deserved because he was loyal to his racial tribe and religious tribe. As a Human Being, in that great struggle to become one he has failed because he has chosen the opposite path of Nelson Mandela and now fights for hate rather than love. To be on the side of hate is to relish lying and obscuring the facts to convince the other rotting souls who ally with conservatism that the Progressives are due for punishment for taking away the golden future that white Conservatives were promised. That golden future, sadly for Bill Logan is neither the golden shower he lusts for, nor is it a golden parachute; that future now is being enjoyed by the powerful oligarchs of the American 1%.

Neocon1 in his most recent tour de force of hypocrisy and obfuscation note that McDonald’s is installing 7,000 touch screens at restaurants to replace cashiers. It is a response to last week’s push by fast food workers for a Living Wage in the United States. Neocon1 gives the impression with his post that the hammer is going to come down on McDonald’s workers for standing up to their corporate masters. However, this story is neither about McDonald’s restaurants in the United States nor is it a current reaction to the protests. The story is about restaurants in Europe and was originally written in May of 2011. In the article itself, are the words, “McDonald’s says they have no interest in replacing cashiers with kiosks in Australia, however, or anywhere else for that matter.” So once again Neocon1 depends on the rabid stupidity of the other walking corpses of Conservatism who gobble up the feces of bigotry and anti-intelelctualism at B4V. To me they are to be pitied not to waste digital space on here or anywhere else. For at least a few months, unless their crimes of hypocrisy are grave, I will devote my time to pressing home the Progressive agenda to my American readers and enjoying the warm weather here in Hell.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ALI AKBAR?

Posted in 2012 ELECTION GOP AUTOPSY, BLOGS 4 VICTORY, BREITBART IS STILL DEAD, MARK EDWARD NOONAN, SARAH BLOCH OPINIONS with tags , , , , , on 03/07/2013 by sarahbloch

_MG_5639.JPG

WatsonTheThird who runs the excellent blog, RebutBlogs4Victory asked an interesting question about whatever happened to Ali A Akbar who was trying to purchase Blogs4Victory back in October 2011 so here’s what happened.

Back in the late summer of 2011 when the staff was informed by Fred Schwartz that conservative political activist Ali Akbar was considering buying, for real money, Blogs4Victory, Diane Valencen asked for a little background investigation to be done on Akbar, Margolis, Noonan and Pusateri, the principles in this blogs sale deal. Two weeks later there was an announcement that changes were coming to B4V just as the research was being revealed to the The Consiliul, which is a group of the six editors, the Editor-in Chief and the legal counsel for The Dis Brimstone-Daily Pitchfork. To make a long story short there was little of interest about Noonan, Margolis and Pusateri that was not already known. Ali Akbar on the other hand was quite the treasure trove of unknown information including the fact that he was a convicted felon.

So like any honest group of journalists faced with a big story near to an upcoming Presidential election year we contacted both our attorneys at Pinchon Davies and a Magis in the Hellac Court of First Fruits and Tenths here in Dis. Now this is going to sound like a bit of Afterlife inside baseball for a moment but I promise you this will all make sense in the end. Matt Margolis, who actually owned and ran Blogs4Victory and its predecessor Blogs4Bush was arranging the sale to Ali Akbar’s limited liability company, Pundit Syndication. While there were several rumors about the size of the sale it is estimated by our investigators that the deal was in the $100,000 to $150,000 range, however, this has never been confirmed because the sale did not go through. Now a little more inside baseball. The post at Blogs4Victory announcing the Noonan retreat from blogging, which we covered in this post offers a rosy scenario where Margolis and his friend Akbar will trade places and that Matt hoped to become a sort of blogger emeritus at B4V:

So, you’re probably asking what this all means. Well, I’m not leaving this community behind. I’m not going anywhere. I’ve spoken with my friend Ali Akbar about all of this. Ali and I go way back. You may have tuned in to our once popular online radio show, The American Resolve. I am pleased to tell you that one of Ali’s companies, Pundit Syndication, will be acquiring Blogs For Victory in the near future. What does this mean? It means Blogs for Victory is about to get faster, better, and bigger. Over the next month, you’ll notice major changes in content and branding. I will be staying on, of course, as editor-in-chief emeritus, and working with Ali as he transforms Blogs for Victory into what I always hoped it could be.

Here’s where journalism and the understanding that conservative political pundits need a veneer of purity clash horribly. The leadership of this newspaper needed to make a decision on two topics. There was clear evidence that Akbar was a convicted felon and that few if any of his political friends knew out this conviction and we needed to decide if we were going to publish what we knew, pass it on to others in the living realm with more juice to work on the story or just sit on our hands and see what happened to Blogs4Vcitory when the news came out. Cavalor Epthith, the Editor-in-Chief of The Dis Brimstone-Daily Pitchfork chose the latter for reasons that might surprise many of the conservative bloggers that read us every day. Cavalor said, “I cannot see the merit in using the ideological puritanism of conservatives against Margolis and Noonan in this case. We have had big stories drop into our laps in the past and we will have big stories drop into our laps in the future. Let the living deal with this one; years from now this paper can write a very interesting eulogy.”

Pundit Syndication only exists as a shell on Facebook now. On 1 October 2011 there was a post:

We just bought Matt Margolis’ Blogs for Victory, formerly Blogs for Bush. This is a pioneer in the field of political blogging. We’re proud to adopt this legacy blog.

There is no verification we have found that the blog sold and there are very few signs that Akbar took any interest in the blog after 1 October 2011. But there was this post at Blogs4Victory of 27 September 2011 that as winter turned to spring and spring to summer that Fred Schwartz, Research Editor kept pointing to over and over again that made him believe we had missed the biggest story since The Dis Brimstone-Daily Pitchfork went digital on 31 August 2005:

Ali and I have been good friends for quite a few years now, and our backgrounds are very different. Even our politics, while at the conservative end of the spectrum, are different. I dare say that if we reviewed all of our positions he’d probably be more conservative than I am. However we got to where we are politically, our beliefs are genuinely our own. We both believe enough in our politics to have walked the walk and not just talked the talk. And it is a shame that celebrities like Morgan Freeman or Janeane Garofalo use their celebrity to stereotype roughly half of Americans and insult minorities just because they don’t conform to their close minded belief that black Americans are traitors to their race if they lean to the right, or that Republicans are inherently racist. Those attitudes do more to hurt race relations in this country than they realize.

I’d like to see Morgan Freeman take up Ali’s offer to attend a Tea Party event in Tennessee. Perhaps a little open-mindedness can usher in a new era of civility.

It was the “more conservative than I am” part that caused a change in Fred Schwartz when in the late spring of 2012 as Mitt Romney was finally replacing the GOP flavors of the week as the Republican primary cycle was winding down. Another man with a criminal record Brett Kimberlin began a campaign against conservative bloggers that in a single word was relentless even compared to the efforts we have made here. Kimberlin and his allies known as Team Kimberlin allegedly began a campaign known as swatting an act of making a call to law enforcement and reporting a heavily armed person in the home of an adversary blogger. When the cops get there much mayhem and confusion is the result and such an act could get people because of their confusion killed. Here in Hell, the Laal Hethri has defined this as an act of terrorism for quite some time now.

Team Kimberlin had an axe to grind with Andrew Breitbart and made no effort to hide their joy when he died on 1 March 2012. Shortly after that Team Kimberlin members found the story about Ali Akbar’s felony conviction just as we had from the 2007 posting at a blog called Libertarian Republican. By the time this story made it to the core of the conservative blogosphere there was no need for Liberal bloggers to be involved. There was such a right wing absolutist feeding frenzy that realized they had someone non pure in their midst that within weeks all that Akbar had built up since his criminal past in 2006 had evaporated.

So to answer the blog posts title Ali Akbar can be found on Facebook to this day making short comments about how much he loathe the left and occasionally about what kind of music he likes.

VOX POPULI: ANOTHER BLOGS4VICTORY CONSERVATIVE GETS THE FACTS WRONG

Posted in BLOGS 4 VICTORY, CONSERVATIVE FEAR, CONSERVATIVE HYPOCRISY, CONSERVATIVE IGNORANCE, MARRIAGE EQUALITY, SCOTUS, THE CONSIGLIERI, VOX POPULI with tags , , , , , on 26/03/2013 by consigliereciucava

Thoeressamt

One of the chief reasons the Conservative wing in politics in America is failing is because they will use incorrect facts to support their social agenda. Just last night, at Blogs4Victory dbschmidt posted this:

With your comment about “The reason conservatives are losing elections is because people who say they are conservatives really do believe things like being gay or lesbian or bisexual or transgender disqualifies you from public service/civil rights/ personal freedom or any of the other benefits a great democracy can bestow because a few people feel their so called morals and religion are more important than what is actually right.” and in particular civil rights, and “great democracy” I feel a need to put things into perspective.

First, and foremost–this great experiment is considered a republic–but I am sure that is what you meant. Nevertheless, Gay, or otherwise, marriage has been rejected every time it has become an issue that can be voted on by the people of the US–so you resort to the SCOTUS where nine people can force your so called “right”, or better yet “civil right”, down over 90% of the US populations throat.

Personally, I really do not think it is the job of the government to decide social issues like this but I was wondering how you feel about (being nice here) the justices deciding for over 90% of Americans what we need to “believe?” Well, for now they did decide ObamaCare was a tax so what if they also decide every American needs to purchase and be trained in the use a firearms? You up for nine folks in robes deciding your life?

I am not against the SCOTUS but somewhat against the cases they now hear.

Now as a Thoeressamt my language doesn’t have a word for “smarmy” which was the word Fred Schwartz used to describe dbschmidt’s barb about the United States being a “republic” vice a “democracy”. The conservative wanted to show me that he was more knowledgeable about the nature of the American system of government. I can accept that on the basis that in my native tongue those words are interchangeable. What I cannot accept is that he continued to parrot the untrue line about marriage equality not ever having been approved by the voters in any state in his Union. Four states, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington all voted in support of marriage equality in the election this past November.

the power of love

I disagree with dbschmidt in that there are times and there are issues that need to be resolved socially by the SCOTUS and that this issue of marriage equality is one of those issues. From what I can see, the Defense of marriage Act is unconstitutional since it creates a second class status for LGBT persons who wish to commit to those that they love with the same rights as heterosexual couples. True, I do not have the many layers of baggage that many conservatives carry about the issue. To me and many with whom I work and interact with daily this is simply an issue of full faith and credit on the legal side and of love and family on the emotional side. The facts are the facts and with those facts in mind I believe the side of civil rights will win over the side of decaying faux moralism.

A TALE OF TWO HURRICANES: TODD AND ISAAC

Posted in 2012 US ELECTION, SARAH BLOCH OPINIONS with tags , , , , , on 22/08/2012 by sarahbloch

A few short days ago I thought this post would be about Sarah Palin crashing the GOP convention set to begin next Monday in Tampa, Florida. Now 72 hours after Rep. Todd Akin strapped a grenade to his foot stuffed them in his mouth and pulled the pin the only thing people in politics are talking about– on the Right and the Left– are what will be done about Todd Akin. As my good friend Fred Schwartz wrote most eloquently in his last post this is a story that can only do more and more damage to the GOP as it runs on and on in the MSM. This time last week Republicans were all a-titter about Paul Ryan and what he would do to help Mitt Romney’s image going into the November election. Today they are watching as the far Right members of their base do the one thing the establishment has told them a million times not to do– speak from their hearts about culture war issues during a presidential election year.

Hurricane Todd was a category 4 at least and has done more damage to the GOP brand than Katrina did to the Superdome and the political career of Mike Brown. Now there’s an acutal tropical storm bearing down on Tampa–Isaac. Now this could be a big win win for the GOP. If things get out of hand and FEMA doesn’t do a good job responding to the disaster this could be ammunition for them to use against President Obama. Oh, wait, the Obama Administration actually has a professional emergency manager with over 2 decades of emergency management experience at the head of FEMA? Well, maybe Pat Robertson can pray this hurricane away.

Before I go I’d like to comment on something a guy I really enjoy watching on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Mike Barnicle, said about Mitt Romney. Barnicle said that Romney should use his acceptance speech in Tampa be clear and precise on this Akin matter by expressing his anger at the statements Akin made not the semantics of the issue and tell the rogue congressman that he must leave this race. Once again Barnicle gives Romney the sort of advice he needs but of course there’s that Bible and gun loving base that keeps the GOP in chains.
