“I know what the world has done to my brother and how narrowly he has survived it. And I know, which is much worse, and this is the crime of which I accuse my country and my countrymen, and for which neither I nor time nor history will ever forgive them, that they have destroyed and are destroying hundreds of thousands of lives and do not know it and do not want to know it. One can be, indeed one must strive to become, tough and philosophical concerning destruction and death, for this is what most of mankind has been best at since we have heard of man. (But remember: most of mankind is not all of mankind.) But it is not permissible that the authors of devastation should also be innocent. It is the innocence which constitutes the crime.”
― James Baldwin, The Fire Next Time

I place that quote at the beginning of this post because America is now different. The country has changed in ways that no longer can be hidden while it remains shackled by the hatred and debts owed from a past rife with injustice. The most recent injustice, the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri this past August, has been met with yet another injustice, no true bill of indictment against Officer Darren Wilson. Wilson, to be certain isn’t a singular manifestation of the disease afflicting America this police officer is simply a symptom of what keeps America from being healthy.

Fifty years ago had a black citizen hit a police officer he would have been killed and the answer the white officer would have given would have been peppered with racial epithets and the opprobrium would have flown out of “civilized” white society against the black community as if it were a monolith. This morning as I watch the coverage on Fox News and CNN, I see the hyperbole but for a different reason. I can feel the undertones of the bigotry but this fire is not life the fires of the past.

This time the violence manifested from the frustrations of people of color and their white and brown and yellow allies across America is not limited to slums and ghettos and redlining communities where bigotry has sought to cage them. People marched in Beverly Hills. People marched and rioted and burned in Dellwood, Missouri which is more suburban than Ferguson. The police commissioner of New York City had fake blood thrown on him. This all because the announcement was made in the night when the chaos was guaranteed.

hindsight 2029
In Hindsight

This is not simply a mob scene, people. This isn’t as one commenter to the blog called it “a chimpout.” That odious description of the frustration of a people left to a second class existence in a city where they are the majority is deplorable but it does make sense when you consider the depth of the bigotry within the Ferguson Police Department. Those that are destroying property in Ferguson are not burning their own homes they are attacking police cars and businesses because Darren Wilson, a man who has married Barbara Spradling recently a conformation of his ties to elements of the KKK has said in the Grand Jury that he feared for his life. The pictures of his face after the shooting do not bear out that he was injured to a point where he was in imminent threat of death but I was not there and cannot be inside the officer’s mind at the time. In the end this will become a victory for those like me who support equal justice. The question remains however where the fire will go next.

THE MEDITATORS DESPERATELY PLEA FOR PEACE IN FERGUSON, MISSOURI, AMERICA AND THE WORLD

We, Ourselves, of The Collective and The Meditators on all matters metaphysical find it incumbent upon Us to dictate these words to the people of Ferguson, Missouri. The dynamics of what happened between Officer Darren Wilson and Michael Brown many months ago that resulted in the the death of not only a young man but the Death of Peace cannot be fully understood by anyone save for the two Souls that were there. Here in Hell the citizens know the Truth. There was anger and resentment on both sides. There was irrationality on both sides. There was retreat and then an evil blossoming of anger that resulted in the firing of a weapon and the death of a Human Being.

These facts have been muddied by politics, by race by class and by the Media doing its work to make ratings vice reporting the facts as they are known in Truth. The black citizens and white citizens in the region are angry that their version of Justice and Order has been corrupted by the other. This irrational manner of thinking must cease. There are no victors in this situation because there is no means by which We know to reverse the wheels of time and give both men, both Human Beings a chance to defuse the situation they found themselves in and come away among the Living.

Now, as a Grand Jury debates whether Officer Wilson should be indicted for the shooting of Michael Brown certain elements on both sides seek to escalate in chaos an already deplorable situation. We ourselves, of The Collective and Meditators, with a clear desire for Peace, and a disdain for the base nature of those who seek a hollow victory in blood and fire, call on all of those in the region to seek a path that leads to Peace. Put aside your anger, your bigotry and the myriad slights and offenses you feel the other have committed and give thought to what is really important in this matter–Justice.

Peace be unto all Human Beings . . .

A question was posed to Us today and The Meditators have taken up this query, “What needs to be done to end the conflict between law enforcement in Ferguson, Missouri and those seeking Justice for the Soul of Michael Brown?”

After much deliberation and debate, We, Ourselves, of The Collective and The Meditators offer this fatwa, secure in its Reasoning:

“Arrest Officer Darren Wilson and charge him with the murder of Free Citizen Michael Brown.”

I puzzled over the word that should end the title for so long that I’ll leave the answer up to you, the reader. Watching events unfold in Ferguson, Missouri has taught me a very valuable lesson over the last week. That lesson is that I cannot understand the situation unless I was actually there. I can draw parallels to many of the missteps taken in the small community to the kidnapping last week of two Amish girls in upstate New York.

Errors are constantly made in situations where a person is confronted with violent crime. The need to make a victim of a crime, as I still believe Michael brown was, appear perfect by his family and horribly flawed to the point of deserving the consequences of their victimhood by others is chief among those errors. Michael Brown, clearly wasn’t a saint, but who among you there on Terra or I here in Hell is? There was something written in a great book about casting the first stone that applies to everyone. There was the narrative of a good kid who was going to college which furled the outrage among progressive bloggers and tweeters which was rekindled by the gleeful “I told you so” chorus from those on the Right after the videotape was released of Brown stealing cigars and shoving a store owner as he and his accomplice fled.

As I watched the video, which matched what we here know happened in the final minutes of Michael Brown’s life, in the conference room with my editor-in-chief, Cavalor Epthith and editorial page editor Diane Valencen, I wondered out loud just what was the purpose of releasing that video. As it stands in 2014 in the United States of America is it simply okay for law enforcement to kill a person because they walked down the street? And if not is it acceptable for the police to release previous actions of the victim to engender sympathy by creating a “thuggish” persona around him or her?

Colorado-Shooter-Poster

These questions bother me because it goes back to the way Americans today deal with the everyday effects that crime and death have on thousands of Americans every day. I saw on Twitter a link to a story that showed how the Aurora, Colorado theater shooter was portrayed the first time the media showed a picture of him. He looked like any other geeky white kid. The first photo I saw of Mike Brown looked terribly imposing. Double standard? I would have to say so.

081614amish

And this finally brings me to the two little Amish girls in New York state. I am glad they are home again with their family. I read where the parents have forgiven their kidnappers and I have also learned where the girls were tragically sexually abused during their 23 hour ordeal. The mother of the 12 and 7 year old said that while she was glad to have her girls back things are not the same as they were. But if these parents who have had their little girls’ lives brutally changed forever have not lost their faith why is it so easy for the the citizens of Ferguson to be vilified for being so frustrated that their native son? To understand how I am looking at this now you have a question to answer. What would your reaction be if the Progressive blogosphere were calling the two girls little whores who really wanted to go off on a sexual escapade in a car with two strangers? Yes, even for me to say such a thing would be pretty shocking. In the end that’s what the conservatives have done with the Mike Brown case over and over again.

hindsight 2326
In Hindsight
Even now, having read to this point the conservatives that come here are saying to themselves, well the Amish didn’t burn their town to the ground or target every car they saw driving by until their girls were returned. That is almost a fair analysis if you value property over people and lucre over life. And here we go again that sentence will turn every conservative mind to the “holocaust of abortion.” And so it goes in 2014 in America the time you have all been waiting for when the tipping point in society was passed and you see the face of who cause the eventual decline into chaos. It is going to be surprising when conservatives see not Rush Limbaugh looking back at them or even some conservative gun loving Oathkeeper who has assassinated a prominent politician. No that person is you right wing “law and order” fanatic. This is your failure and the solution to the problem that has gripped America for the past thirty years, yes another question, “What happens when the peace is breached in an age when the police have the equipment of the military but not the training to deal with a frustrated American public?” Every 2nd amendment and New Testament clinging TEA Party freak ought to be at the barricades with the protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, but of course to those bitter clingers this cause is not their cause as Cliven Bundy’s was for reasons to them that are as plain as the nose on your face.

BREAKING NEWS: LAALHETHRI DIRECTOR GENERAL ISDRIX “ROBBERY SUSPICION IN THE CASE OF MICHAEL BROWN DOES NOT ABSOLVE OFFICER DARREN WILSON OF ACTING IN PLACE OF COURT SYSTEM”

The terrestrial media and the citizens of Ferguson, Missouri now know both the name of the officer involved in the death of Michael Brown and the potential motivation he had for stopping him last week. It appears that the youth was suspect in the robbery of a convenience store a few blocks away from where he died. The conservative blogosphere is abuzz with shouts of vindication about the case as if a robbery suspicion is carte blanche for shooting anyone multiple times. More to follow . . .

VOX POPULI: CONSERVATIVES SPEAK OUT ABOUT THE AFTERMATH OF THE MICHAEL BROWN MURDER, IGNORE THE MURDER ITSELF

Posted in MICHAEL BROWN MURDER, VOX POPULI with tags on 12/08/2014 by consigliereciucava

Thoeressamt

[Ed. Note: regarding the “Michael Brown criminal history” blurb found at Chimpout.com, this seems to be false as best as I can find on Casenet from the State of Missouri these charges do not match with anyone named Michael Brown on the date 2 November 2013. The first posting seems to come from Phil Janovick of Merrillville, Indiana two days ago at the Fox2Now website about the looting,–F.S.]

It comes as no surprise in the current political age in America that the murder of a young, unarmed, black man by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri has sparked no comment by conservatives but the violence and looting that took place afterward has. The most important thing in this case is the Truth and that must be found. I have little confidence now since the police officer involved in the shooting will not be named publicly out of “fear for his safety.” My question: What about Michael Brown’s safety?

Here are some of the comments from conservative blog GatewayPundit. These comments make clear the divide between people who want to be free and those who after centuries of victimization and blame demand to be treated as equals in a free society:

Bluffcreek1967
Blacks do what blacks do because that’s who they are! Their low-ghetto culture and skyrocketing levels of crime is but a reflection of who these people are inherently.

This is why every effort to civilize blacks worldwide on the part of whites has been completely unsuccessful. While some individual blacks have managed to break free from the ghetto undertow, the dominant majority have not and actually refuse to reform their ways.

When are whites going to realize that not all racial groups are the same? That some of them are helplessly backwards and will forever remain a low-IQ people?

Reality is a bitch!

Slave2Liberty
The only thing inherent in the black culture is the left’s race-hustling and exploitation for political purpose.

Even your flagrant racism is not inherent – just ignorant. Maybe, you don’t understand American history, but before FDR and even before Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Welfare Society” programs, black communities had a much higher rate of two parent households and a solid grounding in family and faith.

The Democrats and fanatical social justice, race hustlers are to blame for fueling the hatred, dependency and despair in the black community. Considering the left’s dependency mentality, favoritism for ILLEGAL aliens, self-hating white guilt liberalism, and affirmative action nonsense – the only result can be a culture that feels dependent on the hand that they believe is attached to the arm of the white devil.

Bluffcreek1967
Good grief, you’re making this much too easy.

Yes, it’s true that prior to the welfare state black families were much more intact and their savagery was not as bad. But that was because blacks were restrained by Jim Crow laws which curbed their criminal proclivities. Once those restraining laws were removed via the Leftist ‘civil rights movement,’ blacks exploded on American society.

Jim Crow laws were designed to protect whites from known black brutality. We often forget that our white ancestors had a long history with blacks and were quite familiar with their savage and impulsive ways. Now that such laws have been removed, look at what ‘diversity’ has given us.

Liberals and black race hustlers are definitely part of the problem, but it’s also because whites became soft and believed the multicultural lie that ‘We’re all the same” and that there were no inherent differences between the races.

MLK wanted blacks to be judged by the ‘content of their character’ and not by their skin color. Well, guess what? Whites have! And that’s why we avoid them like the plague. It’s the CHARACTER issue not the SKIN COLOR issue!

Blacks do what blacks do because that’s who they are inherently!

The multi-racial rainbow has been a complete lie!

dj

The left do not believe in facts. What counts in this nation is what they perceive things to be. That’s the whole problem….people need to start standing up and PUSHING BACK on this crap. There should be people, supporting this policeman for doing his job there at these rallies and pushing back against this. People are cowards; afraid to stand up for justice. Sickening.

dixiesuzan

There are no “riots”, there are only protests.

And then there’s this from an unregistered guest at the odious website Chimpout.com. This thread is trending heavily on conservative sites:

Here is Michael Brown’s rap sheet on casenet. Note that he has a juvenile criminal record that is sealed !!

ARRESTS MADE IN FERGUSON, MISSOURI AS RIOTS, LOOTING BREAKS OUT OVERNIGHT

Posted in CIVIL UNREST IN AMERICA with tags , on 11/08/2014 by sarahbloch

blochadvocate_4

“It is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard.”–The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr.

“This is exactly what is supposed to be happening when an injustice is happening in your community,” he said, adding: “You have kids getting killed for nothing.”–DeAndre Smith, 30, of Ferguson, MO

The murder of Michael Brown, 18, an unarmed black teenager, by a Ferguson Police Department officer has sparked outrage in the predominantly black suburb of St Louis, Missouri. Yesterday more than one thousand of the 22,000 citizens turned out for a protest vigil. Within hours of that event those who felt their outrage could not be sated by a peaceful remembrance of the young man whose life was snuffed out carelessly went on a rampage of looting and property destruction that saw cars damaged, shop windows broken and a store set on fire.

Ferguson, Missouri youth protest police killing, Aug. 9, 2014

I sat down last night watching the coverage of this riot, one in a long litany of Americans venting their frustration in the form of violence, and tried to understand what would motivate people to commit crimes in the response to a tragedy or a perceived injustice. No one group has a monopoly on this type of violence over the course of American history, however, there is a common thread that stretches back to the earliest riots in 18th century. it is not race, nor is it religion, nor is it class. The common rioting thread in American culture is a communal, no a tribal, sense of grievance in the face of a power structure that cares nothing about their sense of loss.

The riots that took place in State College, Pennsylvania after the firing of head football coach Joe Paterno had little to do with poverty, or race or religion; that is unless you consider college football a religion as some surely do. Joe Pa was an institution in State College for decades; the people there felt he belonged to them and was, if you will, the leader of their tribe. When the crimes of Jerry Sandusky were exposed, the citizens of that town which owe their existence and economic stability to Penn State football the rules of responsibility in command dictated that someone had to be held accountable for what they knew and when they knew it. Paterno’s supporters, read the majority in State College, felt his termination was equal to a murder of the leader of their tribe. Of course, this is far from the truth, Penn State despite their sanction by the NCAA still plays football despite the dismissal and subsequent death of their long time coach.

“Let it go, let justice prevail. And if doesn’t prevail in the way they want, don’t do this again. Sometime we create our own demise. You didn’t hurt Ferguson police, you hurt yourself,” Karl McCarty, 39, of Ferguson, MO

I’ve heard from many people both here and on Terra try to explain away the causes of rioting as being racially inherent of culturally based; the crime of property damage and theft are none of these. These crimes are simply an outcry of loss by a community that seeks to revenge an unrecoverable loss. Michael Brown is dead. His family must grieve the loss of a son that was heading to college while those with political agendas will seek to vilify him for any undiscovered transgressions of the law in the past. But Michael Brown is an individual not a symbol of the tribe. he is not Trayvon Martin nor is he Rodney King.

What was taken from the black community in this case was a sense of freedom in their own neighborhood. The ability that all free peoples should have to go about their business without fear of law enforcement is paramount to any society that calls itself democratic. When because of physical characteristics a person becomes a profiled target for law enforcement it is not simply a case of bigotry it tells a story about the wider society and the information they are being fed by the media and others that enforces fear and suspicion. At the end of the day the people who rioted and looted in Ferguson are no less culpable than the students and adults that turned over cars and lit tires in State College and must be brought to justice for allowing their tribal anger to boil over into violence.
