I’m not the sort of political junkie or culture wars addict that cannot be shocked by a paradigm shift from a member of either side of the Great Ideological Divide in the US of A. This morning Kentucky Senator Rand Paul did shock the hell out of me by endorsing a path to citizenship for America’s estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants during a speech to the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Paul places as conditions on this path to citizenship strengthening the US border with Mexico and assuring that no one gets to go to front of the citizenship line in the US just because they are already here. However, Senator Paul did mention that undocumented immigrants in the US currently should be issued temporary work visas until they completed the path to becoming US citizens. Interesting how the TEA Party wing of the GOP will react to this.
